I think a lot of this depends on growing up. I always had a garden growing up (up North) so miss not having one. My girlfriend grew up in central London with no garden so isn't that fussed.

A young Spanish guy I worked with living in a shared house in Leyton said a garden in London was a must. His logic - what other major European city can you have a garden without being a multimillionaire?
