Well, Fusion360 is a cloud service, so I guess modelling your wheel with that counts as an online calculator 🙂

🙂, actually not a bad idea. I have solidworks so may try that if all else fails !

Hello people
I have owned a pair of Mavic Ksyrium SSC's for the last ten years and love them to bits. Tragically the rear rim has just started to crack..!
Mavic website is not recognising the serial number (because they're so ancient?) and I wonder if anyone has advice about where I could find exact measurements to work out if the rim is available to be replaced?? Obviously if anyone has one lying around that would be ideal...
Much obliged -

First identify the exact model and year, Mavic change stuff pretty frequently. Then hunt down the Tech manual for the year of introduction of your specific model, since the Mavic Tech manuals are cumulative. Finally discover that you have one of the versions with Zicral spokes and Fore drilled rims and you're basically fucked.

Just buy a new wheel(set)

Happy to rebuild if we can found a rim.

Thanks for the tip Tester - interesting RE cumulative manuals - problem is that they're unmarked so can't work out exact year and model.... :(
Turkish you're a genius bruv
Ta for the offer I may be in touch if have any success

can't work out exact year and model.
You're probably fucked whatever year they are if they are zicral spokes/M7 Fore drilled. The manuals I looked at for 2008-2011 don't give a part number for rims, which is usually the key to tracking down rare spares. Also, Mavic are in administration, so good luck finding anybody interested in even answering questions about decade old wheels.
The best possible outcome here is that you have an early FTS-L freehub and once you pull the rotor off you'll see enough wear on the hub shell to make you give up on the project before wasting any more time and money 🙂 -

Can anyone critique this selection of parts for a wheel build? And offer suggestions of changes.
For: gravel/road/light touring
Requirements: QR 100/130, rim, dyno, cheap-ish, for 35-42c tyres, black rims- SP PV-8 32h
- Novatec F172sb 32h rear
- Kinlin XR22t (any reason to go for XR26?)
- ACI DB spokes/brass nips, I've used these before for several wheelbuilds and they've been fine
This comes in <£200 and ~1950g, which I'm happy with for a strong, dyno wheelset, certainly better than the stock wheels on my Tricross.
Cheers!
- SP PV-8 32h

Seems reasonable. XR26 is stiffer and slightly more aero than the Xr22, and only a tad heavier. But both will work fine.

Looking to replace so SL23 rims with Kinlin XR26 (same ERD), but looking for silver. Has anyone seen a source for these? I need 24/28H

Hi all, can someone help me with spoke calcs? my brain is not working...
I've got some of the PPINA Bitex (Powerway R13)
Measurements from @MCamb as below -
Rear hub
spoke hole distance
Drive side: 50mm
Non- drive side: 38mmW: 55mm
X: 28mm
Y: 47mm
H: 65mmOffset
L: 37mm
R: 18mmSpoke hole diameter 2.2mm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Front hub
spoke hole distance
Drive side: 30mm
Non- drive side: 30mmOffset
L: 33mm
R: 33mmThe rims are DT Swiss OXIC 21mm (same as RR411 rims with asymmetric rear rim)
I'm after silver spokes and these DB ACI ones seem like great value
Cheers in advance
I use this calculator..
https://www.wheelpro.co.uk/spokecalc/
if you put my (bit rough) measurements in with the rim dimensions you should be alrightIf you check out that calc you’ll see it has explanations for what and where to measure- hence the w,x,y,h (which you can ignore for the purpose of working out spoke length, those values are just for calculating the offset)
It never ceases to amaze me why silver rims are hard to get.
-
• #9542
That's because retro grouches are over:)
• #9543
You can get a set off me
You can get a set off me
because retro grouches were right all along and whatever has ‘gone’ becomes ‘new’
fixed that there for ya mate
Will get in touch!
I'm on a separate search for some 700c 32H retro grouches box section rims in polished silver for my '82 Bridgestone randonneur. I'd ordered some TB14 from spa cycles, but it looks like everywhere is out of stock and they cancelled the order. The Pacenti Brevet is another option I liked, but seems to be out of stock for another 90 days according to Pacenti. Any other thoughts for something quality with reasonable width for 29-32mm tyres? I'd seen the Halo retro, but only 15mm internal.
Hi, would anyone on here be willing to build up a wheelset for me? I have hubs and rims (spokes pending), and am based in SW - happy to travel to drop off / pick up. Cheers!
-
• #9547
Kinlin ADHN?
-
• #9548
Yeah, thinking that is what I might have to go with.
Its unclear to me if H+Son even still make the TB14.
-
• #9549
15mm internal should be no problem if you're only running up to 32mm tires.
-
• #9550
Halo also make a white line rim in polished silver - which I’m pretty sure is a rebranded adhn
Are there any online calculators that will allow for this ?
