What time is it? Watches and horology

The markers and overall look also remind me of vintage Grand Seikos. Love this piece:

Im not a fan of tag. Very emotionally flat watches. Also they're thicker than what I'd expect and it always disappointing.

The usual Hoodwinkee puff piece was especially annoying this time. Love JF but he’s so far in their pocket at this point it becomes a navel gazing exercise.

Worst bit is that these are just the entry level Spring Drive with different dials and an ugly green second hand, and the price hiked (though I appreciate they probably had to do more movement finishing because of the display back). The standard ones are nicer and cheaper. The four seasons ones were nicer too. But I guess they’ve struck a vein of American buyers who’ve decided to become GS collectors.

I hadn't seen them on bracelet, where they look slightly better but still. Bleedin' 'eck.

Yeah - they are grim. The second hands are bad, but the dials are awful.

I own both a 60’s Rolex oyster perpetual with grey sunburst dial and a 60s Heuer Carrera and yet I wouldn’t ever have dreamed of this tragedy 😂

I've never seen/worn a Seiko leather strap that isnt awful feeling.

When you say the stitching is terrible, do you mean you don't like how it looks or that there is a quality problem with it?

1969 Hi-Beat 4520-700 Seiko GS

Lovely, especially with the navy dial. I have a 4502 King Seiko, manual Hi-Beats are such good bang for ya buck.

All Seikos are a big bang for your buck, the VFA mechanicals were amazing!

Faceted cushion case is fun. Great dial and love a hi-beat.

I love the history of VFA’s and blew my watch fund on a grail 6186-8000 last year. I’ll dig it out for Friday’s show and tell.

First day back at the coal face and it's enquiries about things we can't supply so far ( including a dreadful Breitling with a multi coloured dial that is thankfully only available through their own boutiques ) .
Still managed to buy Black Bay red smiley dial tho. One of the initial UK batch as well ,so that's something.
