The sign comes up with the right search terms.
I can't find anything under "Volkswagen", though.

Walworth Garden being on Manor Place, ofc. Nice spot for a visit (now open again at weekends). Did a beekeeping course there a few years back.

Dog Gate, situated in Ewell Village Conservation Village, was built by Thomas Hercey Barritt towards the end of the eighteenth century to improve the entrance to the original Bourne Hall which was built in 1770.

One for the history buffs on the thread.
When I saw the photograph of the dog gate, I assumed this location was somewhere in Hounslow, because the civic arms of the London Borough of Hounslow have, just like this gate, two gryphons for supporters and a Talbot dog on the crest. Hence my cryptic response, because I understood that the choice of a hound in the crest was a dad joke. Now, both things having the gryphon supporters isn't a suprise, because they're both in Middlesex (and said county has gryphon supporters in its coat of arms). But the Talbot appearing as a crest in two places so close but historically separate (c. 160 years apart) is intriguing. Did the people incorporating the new London Borough just copy the idea for a dad joke, does the Talbot hound have a wider local meaning, or is there some other explanation?
London Borough of Hounslow arms:
I was playing Bicycle Tag back when Tomoh first tagged this gate, but I clearly wasn't paying as much attention as Oliver.

Ha, well, I don't remember them all, either, just happened to remember this one.
If there's a hunting hound in the arms, perhaps there just used to be a local hunt?

Good description of the dog gate here: http://www.epsomewellhistory.org.uk/the-history-of-bourne-hall-ii/4585861709
Trivia fact: I used to work for the web host of that site. Still serving via 250kcloc of perl, it seems

Some fresh details there, although the story of the cow horn tail substitute is contested elsewhere and retrofitted "explanations" of history is what I'm trying to evade.

Yeah the tail thing seemed a bit of a tall story

Clue 2: After Ramsgate, before Dordrecht, a teaching assistant lived and worked here on the princely salary of £15 per year.

40 mile round trip for me, might be able to do it one starry night.
The sign comes up with the right search terms. Only then did I appreciate the sneaky street name smuggling though!
