Been reading up on Banham and all things bike design related, particularly smaller wheeled bikes, this led me to look for 20s. I'm loving this:

Nice - thanks for the article! If you considering picking up a small wheeler yourself, would strongly recommend looking at the Dawes Kingpin instead of the Twenty. It’s fillet brazed and comes with none of the 26 TPI proprietary Raleigh threading to worry about.

I couldn't say sorry. I've only ever seen that downtube logo on their MTB frames but I don't know anything about old Cinellis.
Seems I could find one other Cinelli in Genius on the web which looked to have a very similar headtube and forks but had slightly different seatstays so not identical.
I'm sure if you had the serial number you'd be able to find out somewhere -

Anyone after a smallish retro MTB. This Specialized Rockhopper looks like it could be fixed up for a good functional bike with a bit of work (couple of spokes, new back tyre, new BB?, sort out the gears). £50 and no bids with 90 minutes to go, pickup from Wimbledon.

Just found this.

Seems incredibly expensive for what it is. Not a project bike. Just wondered what everyones thoughts are on this?

From a starting point it feels weird that someone would put this much effort into what must be seen as an Armstrong tribute. Secondly it can't possibly be worth the sums of it's parts?
-
• #62810
It’s a good build. Bonkers price.
You’ve got one no?
-
• #62811
Yes I have, currently collecting parts etc to build hence how I found this on t'bay.
I was shocked to see the price of it! As far as I am aware its a good build but not entirely period correct. Even if it was that does seem high -
• #62812
Arent any collectors item, bikes or otherwise, not worth the individual sum of parts?
As for the tribute thats debatsble. I have this frame and have slways wanted one. Indeed, I was a Lance fanboy until he was outed but the bike is still the bike and still iconic in its own way. -

This looking like it might be a steal for anyone around Milton Keynes

Loads of bikes for silly prices on ebay. But there's always a chance that someone has a load of cash, wants that exact thing, and can afford not to be bothered putting it all together themselves, and may put an offer in for it.
The seller may be happy with an offer half the price.

"the fork was bent inwards but is ok to ride"
8 bids already. WTF

People will literally buy anything at the moment. Think a lot of people are pretty desperate to get a bike, things sell within hours on gumtree, stuff that looks like it's come out of a skip selling for £100+.
I have just given up buying any full bikes at the moment.

Sorry, I meant that the when adding everything I thought that it was a bit steep. Also absolutely not the bikes fault that Lance did what he did (I was also very much impressed, especially after the Cancer comeback).
-
• #62820
No your absolutley right. I personally think its way over priced. But interested to be proven wrong!
As for Lance, at the time he was an absolute machine, unfortunately , didn't realise just how much. There's a film about it called 'The Program'. Appreciate its only a film but showed me, if true, just how ceazy it was. And if am being honest, makes me a little suspicious of all top level riders even these days. But thats just and it is only a film but certainly takes some gloss off it.
Despite this the bike is still iconic . -

That is nice - liking the paint.

good deal for a nice Condor handbuilt steel World Series with some nice bits.Personally not a fan of Shimpagnolo or whatever you call it - although sure it functions perfectly.

Quite a nice Mercier on Facebook Mercier Course Vitus 971 - Size 57cm

I've never seen one of these before. Pretty cool tube shapes, and the most important thing on any 'aero' bike - mudguard mounts.
