The dimensions are better yes but I think id have to disagree on the dial. How the three dials are inset is a nice touch, I think the balance is actually better, fresher, which I guess is a good modern trait, well I feel in this case anyway. Markers without the black line I prefer. Space wise the composition is better, it looks less congested and more legible. The case adds a nice bit of weight too which I also think instills the luxury end more and is more modern as well.
99% of the time I think brand look through the archives and ruin their history nicely. Im really not a Tag fan on the whole but I think they really came through on this. I know some won't like the faux patina but I think they're bang on with the colour. Its that vintage Datejust tone that balances with the silver sunburst just perfect.
I think Breitling messed up the Top Time big time. Really not a fan of the colour way myself, something like this would have been a much better modernisation in my opinion.
If it was manual and about 4mm thinner I'd be quite tempted. But it's not.
As usual, when you put the original next to the new one the original is clearly a better design - better balanced, better details etc.
