  • Hi

I bought my hand made Roy Thame bike from Holdworth in 1982 and am now selling it

26" original frame, saddle, engraved handlebars, brake levers, centre pull brakes, rear rack, front and rear mud guards, pedals and pump

The only non-original parts are the tyres, wheels, chain set and brake pads

I would be prepared to give a letter of authenticity to confirm it's had one owner since new

Please let me know if you're interested

    Thank you

  • 26” frame??? Eh?

  • How mcuh would you like for is eezie?

  • This is nonsense

  • Sorry mate, skip fodder.

  • skip fodder.

    Why? Looks rideable to me.

  • skip fodder

When you see one of those £5 Shimano TZ rear derailleurs on any bike, you know it's just been put together by someone who doesn't care.

Plus the general appearance of the bike, it is definitely one of those skip finds.

Does not mean the frameset isn't good or the bike has no value!

I spotted that, and it is a horror! I thought @ColinTheBald was saying that it's fit only to be thrown in a skip, which seemed harsh.

    Tell me more

  • My harshness is due to a complete disrespect for Thame frames, most especially for the complete pig he built for my Dad in about '82 which he refused to realign. The paint and chrome dissolved within two years. Two others in our club at that time were little better. I am afraid I can't see any real value in the components. Probably this bike would best be donated to a local kid's charity.

  • Odd. So much of the detail on this frame reminds me of my gaspipe Falcon Black Diamond, which was a skip find.

  • Sorry 26" wheel

  • Sorry I have no idea. Can we talk? My number is 07914 511003

  • Sorry 26" wheel

That's really unlikely. Have a read of this. It's most likely to be 700c, in which case you'll find something like (XX-622) on the tyre, or 27 x 1 1/4 in which case you'll find (XX-630) on the tyre (where XX is some number between 23 and 32). Let us know which.

  • Rubbish it rides really well

  • I bought it new in 1982 and have been the only owner since. I would be happy to sign a declaration to that effect.

  • Thanks it's 27 x 1 1/4

  • Frame size is 60 cm

  • That's a Tourney rear mech and it's £17.99 or £19.99, not a fiver...

  • Apologies- I thought it was this one!

  • Did someone mention its a Falcon lol

  • Here's an early '80s BD for comparison:

  • Still not a fiver... ;)

  • Ah yes! Here is the clarification.

Close to £5 online straight from the factory with a 3 weeks lead time.

    or

£19.99 from your LBS and can only be fitted as part of a "gold service" from £150, with a 6 weeks lead time ;-)

  • Still not a £5 and wrong model...
