  • The E55 with the supercharged lump seems to be the king of second hand muscle. Relatively reliable and a torque monster.

  • Here we go, dark blue with a black interior: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1235006

  • Get one, sort it out totally, then sell it to me for 10k when I need more space than the 3 provides. (If it hasn’t caught fire by then). Preferably light colour interior ta. Do they go as late as 58 plate for the slightly less awful iDrive?

  • Does anyone know of a fabricator who could make a custom roof rack? Ideally, London based?

  • White cars really show the dirt.

This may have been a bad idea.

    It is delightful though.

  • This why most people buy grey cars.

Also. This post is useless without pics.

  • I mean... it still looks white, but up close the dirt already shows.

  • Looks ace

  • Think we're both on the same road if I've got the right car. Always give this a second look on the evening walks :)

  • Wait til you get tar spots on it! Bloody nightmare to get the yellow stain off.

  • Looks bloody brilliant!!! Well done!

Agreed on the star spots though, might be worth looking into some sort of ceramic coat/ paint protection treatment type thing?

  • So a first few day review of the V60...

It's damn fast. And apparently not speed limited and I didn't notice the speed, but will now be more mindful of it. The acceleration is available through the entire range, and I know that's just the electric driven rear wheels, but still it's fast. And those brakes, Brembo something, whatever they are really bite. And it's got big wheels, and so much grip, so even on the country lanes around Goodwood it stuck to the road.

It's also super comfortable. The seats are even better than the ones that were on the S90. All of the media and entertainment was a breeze to set up. And I can use the app to turn on the air conditioner a few minutes before returning to the car so on a hot day the car is cool instantly.

I like the fact that aside from the silly large wheels, you couldn't really spot that this is a fast car. It's understated, it's just an estate that happens to be able to go fast.

I've done 336 miles in a few days, and absolutely love it.

Oh... and adaptive cruise control in sudden torrential rain already saved me from a ding. It was very sudden, and the spray meant I had no real visibility, when the car in front slowed, my car slowed even though I couldn't see why until a moment later.

Complaints? Erm... I'm not sure I see the point in sun roofs, but maybe that's just me.

  • Took Christine* out for a Sunday jaunt today before my post lockdown return to the coal face . Gonna miss being able to just pop out mid week for a run in the sunshine.

    • what Mrs Ejay calls my GTV.

  • Much rarer in Aldi.

  • maybe that's just me.

    It's not just you.

  • Very very classy and the interior is quite special

  • My car has a rear window with a missing tint - I'm fairly competent with most things, but will I be able to do a window wrap myself?...

  • If it's not up to your expectations you can always peel it off again, so I say go for it.

  • If it curves in more than one plane ie concave then it’s a right pain I found.
And you get bubbles in lines along the heating elements if your window is such that it has those on the interior

  • Have you fiddled with the ohlins? I believe you can set the dampers on the screen.

  • If you're worried about dirt on the exterior look at getting the paint prepped and ceramic coated (of some kind) as it will really help to stop things sticking to the car.

Car looks great, a lot of Audi-esque styling but maybe it's better than the run of the mill Avant.

Also, would be interesting to size down the wheels and see if the handling and ride balance changes.

  • looks ace. alloys are very nice

  • Have you fiddled with the ohlins? I believe you can set the dampers on the screen

    I haven't, but it feels phenomenal as-is.

And you can't set the dampers on the screen, the front dampers can be set under the hood by twisting the knobs that are easily accessible:

The rear dampers though... you need to go under the car to reach the knobs.

They're not marked with their factory tuned setting, so I've read that it's advisable to do this having applied a fine permanent marker beforehand.

What I've read online suggests it's only the rears that one might wish to change to give a track feel... but meh, this car is damn fast and feels great and I'm not on a track so I'm not really bothered about changing these.

TBH, I got the Polestar, it's fast... but I didn't buy this car because of any sporty credentials. I wanted one of the small / medium Volvos with decent storage, that had every safety feature included and with the T8 drivetrain. The finance was heavily in the V60 camp (1.49% APR) compared to the XC40 and XC60 (3-5%) APR, with larger storage than either, and over 20% discount on sticker price via Car Wow... basically, the V60 Polestar was coming in comparable to "R" trim T8s on the others which would have less storage and wouldn't be as comfortable or economical on long distance driving (shorter wheel base, higher position and more boxy vehicle).

I appreciate the incredible brakes, and delight that there is power throughout the range so I'll always be able to join fast moving traffic or overtake vehicles easily... but I'm too sedate a driver to ever really put this vehicle through it's paces.

If a V60 Cross Country came in a T8 engine, I would've paid an extra £10k for that. And if I change anything on this car it would be to have wheels that allow for more balloon tyres for more country driving... but then, I know this is likely impossible with those ridiculous calipers on the Polestar, so I'll leave it as-is.
