Congrats on the Ephgrave. I'd love to have one (technically my local legendary framebuilder).

I like the LE mark on the BB which is quite basic as it became more refined over time.

its clearly a guy with a hammer and stamp doing the serials, probably made with a few basic tools and lots of focus on the job in hand.

although this is a lucky find, I will be putting this up on eBay probably. this needs to be restored by someone who's always wanted one of these. it's pretty straight overall so will be a good candidate for stripping, spraying and rebuilding with some choice parts. it would be wasted on me, having only just found out about this builder today

Brand new and have a few Qs:
I bought this frame quite knackered and dead cheap the other day, assuming it was a Frejus.
When i got it home it seemed clear to me it wasnt, in fact maybe a late 50s british handmade? maybe Johnny Berry?
Things ive spotted = Campag 1010 drops, vagnar lugs ecxept elka fork crowns and nervex bb shell.
Does seem a lot like Berry's work but if so the serial is totally out, and i think Berry used gargette bb shells.
Anybody got any ideas?

Not really sure where to post this but has anyone ever dealt with 80s Sursee frames? I'm just wondering whether they use Swiss threads on the bottom bracket or not

Not Sursee specifically, but I've dealt with a number of older Swiss frames and I've never had Swiss BB threads on anything of that age, only on older frames. Of course, that's purely anecdotal, but it's mostly been BSA with the occasional french threaded BB.

Can our resident Campagnolo advisor help my identifying these cranks?

I think they are C-Record Pista, but I don't know the year or specifics.

The Campagnolo crest is engraved.
The inside markings are 172.5 "11" 9/16x20F

11 = 1985 but the have not "P" stamped on them so could be a pre-release or team or test or Olympic example.

They are Campagnolo 306/102, C-Record Pista (v1).
"11" refers to 1985
First version with engraved Campagnolo shield

I'll be listing them on eBay and might, after all, recoup my money on this bike!!!

So I will list them, unless someone feels like they "must" have them and pay over the odds for them...

£300 would make me break even on the bike.

Anybody able to ID this frame?

Hello! I'm new here and wondering if anybody would be able to identify the tubing on this frame? It's an old Cucchietti road bike, there's only so much information about company available through furious google searching. I am particularly fond of the ribbed / crimped profile of the tubing (6 crimps in profile, on the top tube, seat tube and down tube), would be fantastic if anybody was able to shed some light on it. There is a columbus thronic decal on the seat tube but I am a bit suspicious of this as nothing seems very comparable when searching online. Looks somewhat comparable to the tubing found on the colnago ESA mexico but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part...

Hoping to make a project out of this soon too. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!

Nice looking frame, it wears its patina well. The tubing is Columbus Gilco. It was mostly used on Colnagos, but I have seen it on other frames as well.

Thanks! I definitely got lucky buying it years back, appreciating it a lot more nowadays. From my very basic understanding of the gilco tubes they seem to have a slightly different shape to my frame? See diagram below... Unless I am mistaken of course, then I will be very happy to have finally gotten to the bottom of it after all
