  • I just picked up a Circe Helios tandem with Shimano Steps electric motor and it is EPIC.

I was sold on the idea of an e-bike to replace a lot of car journeys but was concerned that a) most of the e-bikes I could see would not be an easy fit for different rider heights and b) that most of our journeys do actually involve ferrying kids/people around to clubs (pre-Covid), friends houses (pre-Covid...) and... actually maybe this isn't going to work out!

Oh well, I've got it now and early impressions are that it's flipping awesome. Just the right kind of bike for electric assist, tandeming is all about chilling and chatting so this means that the bits where that is hard to do (hills seem doubly hard, not adequately compensated for with the extra power) are sorted. Also journey times are more easily predictable.

I had the non-assisted version before so I know how versatile the frames are. Now I have mudguards, front & rear racks and the Brompton luggage block so it can take a lot of kit. Captain is any height up to 6'5, stoker can fit comfortably from age 6 and it is quite compact so handles really well solo.

Fingers crossed we get the use out of it that I hope we will.
