Slow progress....
Waiting for word on a really daft groupset, so time to concentrate on the ancillary, yet crucial bits
List is
- Clean paint work and protect it somehow
- Clean up And service matching frame pump
- If daft groupset will take ages to sort, find cheap, yet semi decent groupset to use in meantime
- Finish striping and preping saddle for daft crabon seat pin
- Find some decent tyres (thinking Turbo Cotton for t’lols)
- Learn to Live with the stem, as It’s proper stuck, the right length, it’s a mint 3ttt record and it goes with the bars, but I want a black version #facepalm
- Decide on bar tape (Black or LAIRY)
- Bottle cages (Lairy, black or Campag Biothermica)
- Worry about which carbon brake pads I ‘need’
- Hope the BB isn’t stuck as well
- Sell on all the 600 bits
- Fix my leg so I can ride it when summer reappears
- Leave the door open to Phil & Colm’s trolling of this build

Black everything

Yeah I know, that’s the thing innit
But I’m going to have to let this one slide I think
Had a tool break scratch disaster earlier, luckily I have metallic sharpies coming that I hope will go some way to covering up the scratches that are on the frame. Nice to add my own...

Picked up a bargain 6800 groupset last night and started assembling last night. This will be a temp groupset (that’s the plan anyway) until I sort something dafter out.
Obvious bottle is obvious
Took @seager s advice on the magic erasers and they have been wonderful for the paint work. A bit of sharpie action later and it’s looking quite good. Photos are awful but it’s grim outside :(

- 6800 brake pad carriers or some Shimano ones
- Crabon pads
- Shorter recessed front brake nut
- Tunstall wheelers top to match paint
Things that aren’t in the post I still need and can’t decide on
- tyres
- 11s Bitex freehub (Muppet)

Good to meet you last night and glad the bits are going on something nice (albeit short term)
If I had a look of mild confusion on my face when you described the bike you were building it was because it sounded more than vaguely familiar. Obviously i didn’t put two and two together....

If only your drop outs were purple or my Hope hubs were blue.....

Lot of "if only" in relation to the colours on this bike.
The carbon bits actually tone it down a bit and it looks ok. Really needs a black stem.

Well I got the freehub off to try and ID it
Anyone any ideas on hub or freehub?
I though Bitex

It does need a black stem, but if it doesn’t come out this week then it’s staying put

Looks very much like a Halo Supadrive

Nice one, most things Matt says about you could be interpreted as being untrue
Let’s hope they do an 11s one

I don’t suppose you know if any of the replacements for sale on interwebs are 11s, I honestly can tell....

They don't currently have a non-disc hub with supadrive, so I don't know if the RD2 freehub off their centerlock one will fit
If such a thing doesn't exist, you could consider the 11-34 Ultegra cassette, as that fits on a 9/10spd freehub https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/ultegra-r8000/CS-HG800-11.html
Would need a GS rear mech though

Cheers I’ll ask about the RD2 freehub
Knowledge is much appreciated
@leggy_blonde is already on to me about the 11-34, but it would just look awful
Might just get the file out or drop the 11t cog off

How does the 11-34 fit and 11-25 doesnt?
Are the larger sprockets able to sit over the ‘back’ of the freehub body?

Pretty much. I think there might be spoke clearance issues with anything smaller
That is a bloody great description
