    The issue is more likely at the hub than the rim, even building a BMX rim 3X 36 to a large flange track hub isn't going to exceed the limits of nipple articulation unless the rim has been drilled exactly radial, which is unlikely.
    At the hub, if you get close to true tangent spoking you start to see an obvious double bend, first where the outbound spoke comes out of the hole and lies against the flange, and then again as it bends round the edge of the flange in order to take aim at the rim.
