Was that so he had an aide memoire if he ever needed to remember his name in a hurry?

Sweetcorn in. I give it 8h before something comes along and either nibbles it or digs it up. This front garden has become a litter tray for the local cats, utterly foul.
Think we need some spiky ground cover, pronto

Get some short bamboo stakes and just put them around the plants to make it less attractive for cats?
-
• #4630
Yeah I've done that before and it seems to work but all that bare ground is begging for some cover and it might as well be cover cats and foxes don't like

They work in combination too

Good luck in what ever you do, sometimes you just have to get out of a bad situation even if you don’t have something else secured.

Where’s a good place to get large plant pots?
-
• #4636
There's three of them down the side of my house, but I think I'm a bit far away. I imagine there are others in a similar position though - try a wanted ad on gumtree, facebook marketplace or local fb group?

I need it for a gift and it needs to large, about 800mm x 600mm x 400mm (but can be round)

Our 8ft Bottle Brush is starting to colour up nicely. I love this time of year in the garden. Colour starting to come thick and fast.

I remember this plant from my childhood growing up in Zimbabwe, it was quite prolific there. What's it technically called?

Callistemon. This one is pretty hardy. Think they're one of Aussies best imports.

For anyone interested in attracting buzzy things into their garden :-)
All last year and this year so far, the Aldi 5 star insect hotel has had absolutely no interest. The drilled out log that I put up a month ago currently has 7 bees ( presumably ) laying eggs in there!
Fussy fuzzy little bastards

Is it on booking.com? We’ve got 3 lovely bird boxes, plenty of viewings early on but no takers. Thought we might advertise them on Twitter..
I’ll get my coat...

Our birdbox gets used by our local squirrel for storage

No idea what it is but I say pot one and find out. I wouldn't leave it in the ground.
Last year, I had these everywhere, that after a few months that turned into the next photo.

That's crazy.
It's in a planter and I planted it from a seed tray or a pot when I was starting my parsley and basil. But it could be that it snuck its way into the seed tray or pot.
My folks wondered if it was tarragon, but it doesn't seem to have an aroma.
I think I may repot it just in case.
The brown eyed girl sun flowers are doing really well. Definitely recommend and will buy again - possibly a few more planted in the beds, depending on whether we redo the terrace.

This chap gave me a jump this morning and the rhubarb that started out as a piddley stem a few months ago seems to be going great guns.

Every year my cardoon gets infested with black fly and every year I spot one or two ladybirds and hoverfly on there so I do nothing, expecting a massacre any second, which never comes and I just have to deal with the massacred looking cardoon.
Any ideas on how to encourage the Predator bugs or ideas why they might be so rubbish? Do try to keep the garden stocked with pollinator friendly stuff etc
Thanks all!
Yeah it’s hopefully a step in the right direction. I’ll miss the nice customers, the occasional fun rowdy moments, spannering on plant and the joy of throwing stuff at apprentices from 40ft in the air.
I won’t miss the rain, the racist shitbag colleagues, the noise and coughing up brown crap after a day of grinding rotten stumps.
Shout out to Terry, the thickest labourer to ever stalk the face of the earth: you can just make out the tattoo ‘Tel Boy’ on his hand. Daft cunt literally had his own nickname tattooed on him.
