You can sometimes get away with just leveling the lever, undoing the bleed port and giving it a good pumpy pump and tappy tap along the hose, you can drop a little fluid in too if you're careful. Done that plenty of times before the bucket was a thing

It's called a burp... ;)
-
• #6579
Indeed.

Its been a while- but I ordered the Ti Bolts to replace the bolts, now just need to work out how to get them out of the frame.
I fucking hate Torx. -
• #6581
Torx, all being equal, is superior to Allen bolts...
-
• #6582
Except when either manufacturing tolerance or material lets it down.
Then it is a nightmare.
In this case- the Steel Sram bolts are basically made of flubber. -
• #6583
Hence my caveat, ceteris paribus...
Get a reverse drill bit, that should get it out.
-
• #6584
But I've yet to strip a shitty Hex Nut.
However, Torx seem to be infamous for it. -
• #6585
I guess you are one of the 1% then... ;)

Cheers Andy!!
I'll let you know,Thomas

I was weighing up this approach, but bottled it.

However, Torx seem to be infamous for it.
TBF it's usually down to the Torx keys rather than the bolt, as a cheap Torx keys can easily bend if installed hastily.

They're fucking park tools.
I'm clearly just a bit hasty with the things.
Have been taking my time recently and the shit tonnes for swapping spiders over in SRAM land have given me more practice.
Fact remains though I still have to perform surgery to get the bolt out. -

They're fucking park tools.
Hah, you’re right thought, I have to replace them twice/three times a year because it get worn quite easily.

BB7 replacement pads - can I do better than the Uberbike Race Matrix?
Commuting / touring with some gravel riding.

• #6592
Can I do better than the BB7?
Yes.

Post mount brakes on IS forks. Is there supposed to be such little clearance between the IS/PM adaptor and the rotor? Because looking at it makes me feel uneasy.
-
• #6594
Is this a fatbike?
-
• #6595
Nope, old fashioned QR non-boost mtb
-
• #6596
Check your frame, might be a bit out...
-
• #6597
Define little, they're generally pretty close but it's not a problem.
-
• #6598
A couple of mm? I guess the distance between the rotor and the pads is even less and there shouldn’t be any lateral movement so why should I care, right?
-
• #6599
Right.

Top tip. When bleeding Shimano hydraulic road brakes, always make sure you've removed the stopper from the bleed funnel before trying to push fluid from the caliper to the brake lever.
If the fluid doesn't seem to be shifting, check the stopper rather than just pushing harder and harder on the syringe full of mineral oil.
On an entirely unrelated note, if anyone has any tips for removing pink mineral oil from a white living room ceiling, I'm all ears.
If that doesn't work out, I have one in BR3, so not far from you (other side of Crystal Palace ridge).
