  • so they pay the premium

Yes it’s quite a lot more expensive than steel tubing. A couple of times more expensive

  • I empathise with your urge to paint a bike pink - I have a strong desire to have a pearlescent white bike, but that shade of white that is cream, silver and purple all at the same time... like this Rossin that I’m still hunting

  • DBAD began as 'I want a white bike'

  • White bikes are a great idea, until you have to clean them

  • You might like this one

  • 👌 buy a DeSalvo - buy that white DeSalvo!!!

  • I thought it was ‘I want to build a bike around some hype brakes’? (I’ve done the same thing with the EE I have)

Edit: ‘I want to build a white bike around some Paul brakes’

  • That colour is great, if hard to capture. I have this one "reserved" for me, they're good frames.

  • I had a pearlescent pink Strada Pro SLX with full CDA and deltas years ago but it was a fraction too big (A tall 57cm) - loved it, loved the BB shell... sold it for nothing :(

  • I did a Moots a while back in clear blue pearl over a black base coat. Looked black 75% of the time but in bright sunlight it was a lovely deep metallic blue.

It was impossible to get a good photo of the blue.

  • I also did the one which was deep purple pearl to a violet pearl fade.

  • These are both lovely! The top on is nicer because DBAD obvs...

I’ve been looking into the vaguely daft idea of having a whole frame anodised... could be lolz

I’ll give you a shout if I ever need this painting! Could you do the pearlescent white like the Rossin above?

  • I'd be weary of anodising unless you get it done by someone who really knows their shit - anodising can create a very brittle surface, which can make a Ti frame much more prone to cracking (as if they werent prone to it already). It's why a fair few builders refuse to do it. There is info for arguments both ways on the web, so do some research and make your own conclusion.

If you get it painted, 100% leave the rear triangle raw - Titanium is non ferrous, which is why it doesnt rust, but also means paint doesnt like sticking to it particularly well (same with stainless steel), so it is more prone to chipping, so not having any paint to get damaged in a high wear area like the rear stays makes a lot of sense. At the very least leave the chainstays raw otherwise chainslap damage will be the bane of your life.

Can paint any colour(s) you can dream of if you choose to go that route. Email if you want to discuss.

  • If you are painting ti, can you mask the logo, so the logo stands out as bare ti through the paint? I always think that would look cool, but not seen any frames that actually do that, so wondered if it was a bad design for some reason.

I have a paint scheme in mind, which is a fade from forest green to lime green from fork / headtube to seat tube, with bare ti stays.

  • Yeah, bare Ti graphics are pretty straight forward and fairly common actually.

  • They are amazing

  • Done by Black Magic Paint over in the states. Moots dont supply many frames with paint, but when they do, they outsource paintwork to Black Magic, as Moots dont have an in-house paint shop.

  • Never gets ridden, that 😂

  • I thought he sold it?

There’s more to life than bikes tho, innit.

  • Na. He still has the Lolo, Continental, Ira Ryan CX, Canyon MTB and the Moots. And the Conti is still his favourite.

  • Postman delivered!
    Oxic 21mm rims
Bitex hubs - though I’d rather silver hubs if I can get some
Ti king cage - currently hunting another
Vittoria Corsa tan walls - will probably run Pave on this though
Saddle roll for the Di2 battery, junction box and a spare tube from @benana 👌
And finally the cables to wire it all up...
