Frame restoration

  • I have been tasked with restoring this old beach cruiser including trying to get the paint up to a nice shine.

Anyone got any advice on products I should be using? I have tried t cut in the past but not had great results.

On the spokes and rims I use tinfoil and a little oil but maybe there is a better option for this also.

    Thanks

  • Brillo pads are better than tin foil. They are also good for getting paint transfer and scuffs off the frame when used gently.

  • For removing rust, I've used aluminium foil (just standard kitchen stuff) and vinegar. That works well on chromed areas. For "rustless" spokes you might need something a bit more beefy. For maintenance I've generally used turtle wax to help water bead up and run off. I've also used T-Cut with decent results for removing very superficial scratches and generally livening up paint.

  • Thanks a lot guys. Have a good idea what I am doing but its always good to get a bit of advice.
