  • For cycling, poncho tarps are a nono sadly, they billow out in the air like nothing else. For walking they’re ok.
    SMD products come highly recommended, I have a (non-poncho) floorless 1p tarp that was £60 second hand and has housed me very happily on solo trips all over Europe.

  • Understood... this'd be for ultra distance multiday self supported on foot aka fastpacking for want of a better description. I'd be carrying walking poles. Looking for quickish pitch & pack up for short wildcamp rests ideally plus more wriggle room than bivy affords when legs tired.

    This option has potential weight saving of not carrying additional waterproof jacket.

    I'm also looking at a z-lite sol mat but that's a different thread.
