  • As yes, thanks both, we convinced her the mini was fine and getting it in time for the birthday sealed the deal.
    Cheers

  • At last! Finally managed to beat a mini boss in control. Been stuck on it for the last week, not helped by the enemies that respawned after every couple of attempts on the short run to the boss fight. Was about to put it on the back burner and attempt another side mission. Glad I didn’t..

  • I dipped out of control and into Warzone for a bit. it just stresses me out too much. haha. The enemies arent that scary but the way they appear and swarm you is just really unsettling when paired with the audio and general game environment.

I'll definitely finish it though but I need to be in a certain frame of mind and currently I'm constantly exhausted which is not a good fit.

  • I dipped out of control and into Warzone for a bit.

and you don't find WZ stressful??
When I unexpectedly receive of volley of bullets in my back, with associated noise/vibrations, my HR hits the roof
And don't even start on final circle

  • well, be interested to see what that looks like!

  • I found it a bit disorienting for the first three or four missions as you can’t just find cover and pick off enemies. You’ve got to get out and run, gun and throw. You don’t need to have copious amounts of health to begin with as you can just head out and grab the dropped health from dead enemies.

Only thing that unnerves me about it is the chanting voices in the background. Really eerie.

  • Yeah the voices, and when you shoot the floating people...

I think remedy absolutely nailed the atmosphere of a creepy bureau building / paranormal, but then they do it all the time, like Alan Wake etc.

Control is up there with Prey as one of my fav games. I think they got just about everything right. The difficulty, combat, story etc.

  • Nintendo Confirms Extra 140,000 User Accounts Have Been Compromised

  • I really hope everyone has 2FA on their account here!

  • On a related note, decent sale for Switch at the moment. Picked up Hotline Miami 1 + 2 for pretty cheap. N++ is now on par with Minecraft and Stardew Valley for the number of different platforms I've bought it on.

  • 42 pages of games! So much weird anime. I've got about 15 games I'd kinda like open in tabs now

  • Sale where? not that i should be looking

  • On the Nintedo e-shop, the one you access from the Switch itself

  • Yeah I picked up a few relative unknowns for a few pounds, and Beholder and When Ski Lifts Go Wrong were also a few pounds each and had been sat on my wishlist for a while there.

Well, time to go back to BotW after doing something else for 10 mins!

  • I've played about half an hour of this. Pretty fun! Does the hard stuff with the big jumps become more manageable with a better bike or is it a case of throwing yourself down a cliff 20+ times until you manage it?

  • Better bikes make a lot of the big jumps easier. From memory the Trailblazer means you can start enjoying yourself a little; the Boar you can throw off literally anything and mostly survive, which enables you to attempt the repeat the throwing yourself down a cliff 20 times manoeuvre on some even more optimistic drops :)

The Guardian review sums up my feelings about it quite well, and mentions the night rides which are a mildly tricky unlock and refresh the game when you just think you've got to grips with it.

  • I found the second bike was a major step up in handling big drops. Not a fan of what looks to be increasing difficulty by adding in more blind jumps/having to memorise the course (the latter already being taken care of by the night courses). But having fun with it regardless!

  • Warzone season 4 drops tomorrow morning. Really hoping the map changes!

  • Anyone dabbled in remastered command and conquer/ red alert yet? About to pick it up but loathe to go back into windows and not sure if it's on geforce now yet (prob not since their 'opt in' update wiped loads of games (inc PUBG!)).

  • I've heard a lot of good things about it but also some negatives. For example from the Steam reviews:

"The BIGGEST con of this remaster is skirmish is completely busted. There are no in game animations except for movement. No explosions no nukes no firing of tanks. Creating a game is extremely frustrating, no randomizing of colors or faction, you can't place where certain players will be on the map except by going one by one which is extremely weird, it resets your color every match which is just aggravating (no i don't want to be yellow), and the perhaps the most frustrating after every skirmish match it resets every setting you made except for the map. So every time you want to play a new match you have to remake all players with faction selection and colors and placement all over again. Every single time. To me this is worse than the original game which is baffling to me"

  • 32gb update

  • That's it?! They've previously had 80gb updates just for cosmetics.

  • I bet they'll make you redownload the multiplayer part separately, for the 3rd time, as another 100gb.

  • Oh for christ sake, they have finally targeted me specifically.
