I've decided to sell this first bmx/minivelo tank thing I made.
I've stolen most of the parts off it for other projects recently but picked up a bmx fork last week and thought selling it as a frameset might appeal to some people. I would, of course, be open to discussion of building it/helping you build it but most of the parts I used to build it up today were either already in use on other projects or will be soon.
I can't remember how much of this I documented in my CP thread so I'll go over it here. It started as a bmx frame, a Fit Hawk to be precise, and I cut off the toptube, seat stays the seattube replacing them with a larger diameter seattube, a teardrop shaped toptube and used a touring fork as seatstays. The seattube is shimmed back down to the bmx standard of 25.4mm.
There are mudguard/rack eyes on the frame and the downtube is drilled for dynamo wiring, di2 grommets are included.
The fork was sold to me as NOS but I reckon it's either ex display or been rattling around a stockroom as there are scuff and scratches here and there. It has Ubrake/AD990 mounts. The only brake mount on the frame is a tab for a coaster brake torque arm. I could braze some rim brake mounts onto the frame and/or a disc tab onto the fork if you'd like.
Frame and fork are both for 14mm axles. I defintiely have one set of axle adapters for 10mm which I'm including, sure I have another set which I'll have another search for tomorrow. It takes an integrated headset (headset included in sale) and a mid bb so you will need to fit bmx cranks.
It has been treated with linseed oil but its also been used in the wet so it comes with plenty of rust. None of it is structural though and none of the tubes are particularly lightweight so I reckon it can stand being rusty. I've given the insides of the tubes a good coat of Dinitrol so it'll only be rusty on the outside.
I had this built up with full mudguards, front disc brake and dynamo lighting and was using it for commuting on pretty regularly, in a more stripped down build like you see it here its a total hoot!
