I want this on a t-shirt.
On the positive side, I have a new crank puller, a new chain tool, four new chain tool pins after the Campagnolo chain broke the one that came in the special Campag chain tool, and a much greater understanding of how a groupset could be removed and installed, and then configured to work.
I would add that nothing I have seen or learned has in any way persuaded me to not install Shimano on everything I own (apart from the yellow Serotta, which will get Chorus so it matches the other yellow Serotta, that has Campag Chorus CX).

found one... a 56 with the 2019 flatmount, thru axle fork, in purple... and i've bought it! Full Dura-ace groupo... shop soiled, but never ridden, so warranty for me too (if that's worth anything?!). Anyway, it was on US eBay, so i'm using a shipping service to get it to me, should take a couple of weeks... but by god i'm pleased! Was £2300.... not sure if i may have over paid? possibly a little....

yeah... but the heart wants, what the heart wants... & i've not seen another.. also, purple tax is a thing, it's oft been quoted!
-
• #12761
What are the shipping, import and duties like?

• #12762
what if the heart wants a cardiac arrest ?

• #12763
by god it gets one!

i'm using myus.com to ship it, $100ish, import duties are calculated on whatever i declare the value to be when i ship it via them... so if someone were to declare the value to be $200, for example, then one would pay the import duties on something with a value of $200... not saying i would do that, of course!

Nothing could possibly go wrong!

please... i'm already having doubts!

With shipping and tax you're going to be £500 below RRP but £500 above the lowest they were closed out at by UK shops, so there are arguments both ways.

ooft I've gambled with import duties etc with carbon from china and came out ok.
But if customs decide to investigate the big bike box that has a declared value of only $200 then you could be in for a surprise.
You'll probably be fine. I just wanted to put the shiters up you! S'gonna be a long two week wait. Even two weeks seems hopeful tbh

Dibs forks and seatpost...
Welcome back. Still very much enjoying your 58 :)

I bet you are, what great weather since finishing your build! 👍🏼
-
• #12772
lol naaaah he'll be fine. Maybe.
Just tell customs you accidentally left off a zero at the end of $200. A bulletproof defence in court...

if you declare something as £200 can you insure it for £2500? Seems wishful thinking. I guess it’s ‘only’ £2,500 but still. Also evasion is naughty.

We're going to have to get used to paying duty on everything very shortly.

exactly - this is the major issue. more likely to lose/damage the parcel and receive compensation for only $200 than customs to open it and raise the value charges..
I want this on a t-shirt.
