The saddle is a reupholstered Viscount saddle, with the AX logo embroidered on it. Funny that you mention the Profil, as It considered using that one. But it looked a bit bulky, where this one is slimmer and better looking in my opinion.

For AX fans: the 1982 Shimano catalog is a pleasure to read. A lot of explanation about the functioning of the parts.

AX shows that Shimano were at least thinking about the aeros, but the results where they are real must have come more from luck than any kind of rigour. The AX brakes are actually a material drag reduction compared with pretty much any side pull, but I doubt whether any of the other parts could be distinguished from contemporaneous competitor groups from Campag and Suntour in an aero test.

I agree that the bike is fantastic. Flandria should be given credit that the bike features in this thread.

Something about the proportions on this is just not sitting right.
