Well, yes and no. They aren’t always landing, and the weather’s been reasonably sensible, so not particularly awkward. The RAF have training requirements to conduct approaches at civvy aerodromes, and the airport has a desire to keep ATC in practice so we’ve been glad to have them in (not that we don’t work hard to accommodate them normally). The public seems to enjoy seeing them as well, so it’s a win all round.

One went over me in the chilterns a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't have my camera. Great shots

Interesting piece about that airframe and its use in aerial surveying here: https://www.avbuyer.com/articles/special-missions-aircraft/kavel-10-smart-surveying-next-generation-surveying-112469

There has been a lot of aerial survey action during lockdown. I wonder if the reduced amount of air traffic has made it easier for them to do it somehow?

• #2234
Must have done.
Out here in LB Hillingdon, following the Gatwick Mystery Drone event,
the Council had to update the 'No Drone flying' restriction,
due to the proximity to Heathrow, Northolt and even Denham Aerodrome,
with the 3km boundary.
The missing scheduled, charter and business flights must make it a lot easier
for ATC to 'find' space for surveying work. -

It does make it easier and the survey flights will have less holding and deviating from their tasks, however they still get accommodated in normal times and the schedule of survey flights is probably not much busier just now, they’re just more noticeable.

Good find, thanks. Interesting little aircraft too, I haven’t come across that one before.

I remember the double take when I was glancing over a list of aircraft detected by my ADSB receiver and noticed a plane that had sent me 50,000 ADSB messages :D
I spent about five minutes trying to figure out what was malfunctioning before I realised.

Had a spitfire flying overhead today on a walk around the coast. Which was nice.
What wasn't nice is that it was very noisy and flew around for about an hour.

Lucky B'stard indeed.
It is a twin seater, however not the one I flew for nearly an hour last October.

@King_Saxlingham - it's supposed to sound like that. -

Finally got round to setting up my ADS-B receiver, happy with the initial coverage, considering the antenna is indoors on a window ledge. Next time I'm in the loft will take the setup up there, see if there is any improvement before looking at going external.

Awesomeness.
You must have been tempted to check the wing, punch the throttle and slam the stick over. 😎

We did.
I think you can see it in the third video - but it was the commander flying it at that point, rather than me.
When I asked him later, he told me we were pulling a couple of Gs at that moment.
Although I was expecting the manoeuvre, as it had been discussed in the pre-flight briefing, it still took me by surprise.
In a big grin kind of way. -

Speaking of fighters with a spare seat I always wondered what the hatch was for on the Skyraider flanks...

After some google fu I see it is a handy troop / personnel transport on certain variants.
Just a bit more cramped. :o$

Been seeing them in to LBA. By all accounts they are using the capacity for training flights due to it being an awkward airport to land at.
