Holy wow, la passione. The 70s called, they want their sexist marketing back.
-

To be fair, I haven't checked the men's section recently so it may also feature shorts designed to 'shape your figure'

Pure colors and a classy style
that’s shaped by your femininity.
This collection will be your
Summer crush.I always had the suspicion that they're not exactly a modern company.

Bloody hell. Who signs this shit off?

This has gone through multiple readings and processes and no one has at any stage thought 'huh, maybe this isn't ok'.
I asked them on Instagram when the men's 'figure shaping' shorts would be available but they deleted the comment (edit: and have now blocked me). Must not want to ruin the big 'drop'.

If anyone feels leftout by La Passione's women-only shortsleeve jersey offering... Decathlon has your tanning needs at heart

I tried to look at the men's section on their site, but there was so much Javascript to allow that I couldn't be bothered. As a result, I still don't know if they're equally as sexist about men as about women.

I did so as well, but as you saw was a bit too subtle about. Thanks for chiming in again.

If someone actually wants good women's kit:
https://www.machinesforfreedom.com/
Owned by women, designed by women, promotes diversity and inclusiveness. An all round good bunch.

Shit like those bum shaping shorts from la passione make me angry.
We have a obese friend that always loved cycling, until she felt that people would think "whats the fat one doing on a bike".
Now she is back on the bike, and thanks to that and calories counting is below 100kg again.
I doubt that walking or even running is as healthy and doable as cycling when you are heavy. -

It's absurd really. The Fat Lad/Lass at the Back thing is interesting as it's more body positive, but there's still that element of shaming/making a thing of it. The machines for freedom stuff highlights how it can be done well, in a more positive way.
I have a friend who works in a senior position for a well respected outdoors brand and she said it's a reality that brands can't afford to offer as wide a range as they'd like to, because it just isn't profitable. Whether it's a chicken and egg thing, I don't know.
There's a long way to go until cycling is in any way representative of society as a whole, but even among all the other brands being restrictive about how and to who they market their products, La Passione stick out as absolutely fucking terrible. If their instagram is anything to go by, they also don't seem to have got the gist that people might find their current campaign a bit absurd. I would imagine most brands would respond more quickly with an amendment/apology/'We'll do better'.
It's definitely influenced my decision about where I buy my next jersey from.

I had a friend who had quite large thighs which rubbed when walking or jogging. Cycling for longer periods was far more comfortable.
