Yep you can remove the bezel and replace it with something less offensive (search for seiko 5 bezel) or leave it bezeless.

Also, I have this watch but the numbers on the bezel really bug me and are functionally pointless.
Can anyone remove them for me (or recommend a sensible way to do it)?
Pretty sure I can pop the bezel off.
