argh, i'd forgotten about the final Queen valkyrie fight - that's still on my to do list. I made the fatal error of putting GOW aside once I finished everything except that fight (Spidey had arrived and i got excited about playing it). Went back to the fight about a month later and had forgotten all the attack sequences so now can't face having to die a million times to relearn them all.

Historically I'm someone that's always had to 100% games, but I think GTA broke that cycle for me but having so many pointless little things to collect for no reward. These days I still have to 100% the sidemissions but I don't care nearly as much about collectables unless you get something genuinely worthwhile for doing so.
-
• #22529
yeah collectables can do one, one of the things I always found slightly annoying about uncharted was the collecting of trinkets/treasure, and how few I'd find within the confines of normal play. In a game which isn't exactly open play, felt like you had to search every nook and cranny of the available area to find the little twinkly things.

Control is now downloading. blaming you Corny.

was it in the days of play promotion? If so, you're getting it for a good price.
I've got broad shoulders.
If you do hate it, it won't be as much as fallen order! Not quite sure why I like it as much as I do, think the story is told in an interesting way, and the whole telekinetic combat is pretty satisfying, whilst allowing you to figure out how you want to deploy your abilities/weapons in different ways.
It's currently floating my boat and though I'm almost halfway through, I'm looking forward to playing through and getting into the DLC The Foundation that has come with it.. -

yeah the deluxe bundle with season pass was £6-7 more than base game from amazon.
I'm still loving apex legends but it's the same thing over and over again so i only play for a few rounds at a time, want something to tide me over with a proper game storyline until last of us 2 in a few weeks.

Why don't you get on warzone to unlock the basics before the next season starts?
There are some guns/perks that you'll want to unlock so that when the new season does start, you're not at a disadvantage to everyone else.

My girlfriend and I have been playing shameful amounts of Golf With Friends on the Xbox. (The weather's shit and I've injured my foot). It's ideal because she doesn't really play games and the controls are very simple and intuitive. Anyone got suggestions of good 2 player games for someone who doesn't normally play video games? If it's on Xbox Game Pass even better.

• #22535
I absolutely loved it, even though I felt it ran pretty poorly on my xbone. Haven’t had a game grab me like that for ages.

got as far as recovering the hotline in control.
the game is already giving me anxiety. it's like a mix of hellblade: senuas sacrifice with the weird voices in your head and doom 3 where you're a bit worried about turning corners as there's probably enemies going to pop up and kill you when you hit the right mark.
so far it's not bad though.i will never not stop hitting square to reload when i run out of bullets. if that becomes another action I swear I will be fucked.

How much bigger are they expected to get? I've freed up a fair bit just by uninstalling some games I dont play any more. I should probably get another hdd
-
• #22538
They've been between 15-20gb each time so far and that's without any major changes to the map, which is rumoured to be changing this season.
I bought a 2tb external hd for my PS4 for about £50 when lockdown started, it's been a good investment!
Still waiting for Game stores to open so I can ring round and try to find some rear paddles for my controller, I'm getting closer & closer to just buying a scuf/battle beaver/controller modz controller but I know the cheapy paddles will be enough for me. Then I can spend the spare cash on some better headphones 😁

Glad you are enjoying it!

Apparently the back-attachment is coming back into stock in some places (its a Game exclusive in the UK I believe)
-
• #22541
Hopefully!

Yeah, I’ve always thought remedy games had interesting premises, and wanted to play them but they’ve all been Xbox exclusives (Alan wake, quantum break) so control is the first.
Hopefully they’ll be making more games for ps4, if they’re as good as control I’ll probably get them as well.. -

I feel like a doddery old nanna being asked to get her teenage granddaughter a Jesus and Mary Chain album from HMV. Note how outdated my cultural references are.
My daughter's gonna be 10, getting her an Xbox one with Minecraft. Her favorite game. Also getting the game pass thing.
What other games are worth looking at?
She likes platform/puzzle/exploration games. We've played Monument Valley, SSX Tricky, Grow Up, The Cave on various consoles.

the LEGO games are good fun
I played the Harry Potter ones and a few others, not so much of the current wave of games so they may have jazzed it up.If you want to play too, Jurassic World Evolution is a Theme Park game where you have to run JP. It can be a bit full on with task management and keeping an eye on multiple things, so maybe a tad too much for a young -un solo, but together you'll be reet.

Human fall flat, totally reliable delivery service, death squared and moving out are all fun couch co-op puzzle type games on game pass.

Ah yes, we played untitled goose game.
Thanks for the suggestions all
i don't think the DLC adds much to the base game - it's just an extension of the story so only worth doing if you enjoy the dialogue / want to see a bit more of what happens. Combat is harder - you actually have to use gadgets and may not complete a base on your first go - but only because they've levelled up the oppo with new weapons rather than any interesting new angle.
I agree with @cornelius_blackfoot - it's deffo grindy. I just turns out i'm a big spidey fan and love pretty cityscapes. Think it also helps that i only get to play in 2 hour bursts once or twice a week after everyone's gone to bed , so that mitigates the grind fatigue.
