  • I feel like a doddery old nanna being asked to get her teenage granddaughter a Jesus and Mary Chain album from HMV. Note how outdated my cultural references are.

My daughter's gonna be 10, getting her an Xbox one with Minecraft. Her favorite game. Also getting the game pass thing.

What other games are worth looking at?

She likes platform/puzzle/exploration games. We've played Monument Valley, SSX Tricky, Grow Up, The Cave on various consoles.

  • the LEGO games are good fun
I played the Harry Potter ones and a few others, not so much of the current wave of games so they may have jazzed it up.

If you want to play too, Jurassic World Evolution is a Theme Park game where you have to run JP. It can be a bit full on with task management and keeping an eye on multiple things, so maybe a tad too much for a young -un solo, but together you'll be reet.

  • Human fall flat, totally reliable delivery service, death squared and moving out are all fun couch co-op puzzle type games on game pass.

  • Untitled Goose Game is also on Game Pass

  • If you’re going Game Pass, Lonely Mountains: Downhill is definitely worth a go. Sort of a platformer? Simple to control, but v satisfying. I have been putting a lot of time into it lately.

The Raving Rabbids games tick all those boxes, while mostly being casual games you can dip in and out of. Also much fun when played competitively and daft enough that a 10yo and an oldster like you can play against each other and both have fun.
