the job of the butter is to soak down into the hot inner crumb of the freshly toasted bagel, softening and moistening it prior to spreading a luxuriant coating of peanut butter on top.

That's bagel gappage that could be taken up with PB juice though. Mmm.. pb juice.

i tend to wait until i've finished the bagel, then use any PB drips to assist in the clean-up of any detached poppy and sesame seeds with a deft finger swipe or two
