non-ebay, but what would the hive-mind position be on a facebook marketplace sale where they've sent me an incorrectly described item and I want to return? Should they have to pay for return postage?
(I specifically asked before if it was a 5750 compact chainset, to which they replied 'yes, it's compact'. It turned out to be a 5700 non-compact one). Not heard back from my initial response, but I want to know where I stand before potentially needing to get bolshy :-) -

Definitely, but blood from a stone will probably be easier to achieve. Assuming you paid Paypal item/service give them a chance to get back to you and then raise a dispute if needed.

Had another of those weird 'buy it now or best offer' interactions.
Pair of tyres listed at £18.95 or best offer. I offered £16, rejected. Offered £17.50, rejected. Seller counter offers £18.50.
45 fucking pence? Why even have offers on the thing if your only willing to take 45 fucking pence off the price?!

They're pretty common I find - had similar over some printer ink. I think, in fairness to sellers, often in eBay, people simply don't want (notions of machismo/winning) to pay the asking price no matter how reasonable; almost like they'd feel happy paying £15 when the seller asked for £20 but not £14 for the same thing I'd that's the asking price

Yeah, I see what you mean about people wanting to feel they've 'gotten a deal'. Don't think 45p counts as a deal though. I just rejected the offer, I would have closed the deal last night if I could have had even £1 off but now I'll look around and see what else I can find.

Might be that thing where eBay automatically enabled offers on your BIN item because it has sat around for ages with no nibbles

I had my eBay account hacked and used to set up a shop and list sun lounger chairs (200 of them) at 10 quid for 2 with free delivery.
I nipped it when I had 9 sudden sales, but going round in circles trying to get them removed and buyers sorted properly.
One got pssy with me

Do you have any left?
-
• #1835
Ha. I wish I had one in the first place as we have but one suitable chair for outside
-

Sounds like you need some sun loungers. Apparently they're available on eBay, a tenner for a pair.

You shouldn't be advertising them on here if they're also for sale on eBay.

I bought a monitor on ebay refurbished form a business not individual.
Its faulty and needs to go back.
How do i get it back to them without it costing me a) a fortune as I dont think i can get that refunded? and b) without me having to take it to a post office.. not in this environment -
• #1839
if you paid via PayPal they'll pay up to £15 of return shipping costs
-

You shouldn't be paying any postage at all if the item is faulty. You should be able to start a return as normal from here and opt to say you want the item replaced (providing they have stock) rather than a refund.
Who pays for return postage?
The seller pays for return postage if the item was damaged, faulty, or doesn't match the listing description...https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/returns-refunds/returning-item/return-postage?id=4066

Won an item friday night, now the seller is ignoring my messages it seems when I ask about a new total - as it was set as UK sale only, but pm'd seller and asked if he could send to Sweden, which was OK. So now I have a "Pay now" which I can't pay because the postage isn't included. What do I do?

I've got a weird one
Bike parts from a seller in PA, USA. Sale description has very clear (literally the first thing) instructions to request a shipping total for multiple items. Shipping for the one item is a little steep, but I'm thinking, OK, add two of these things (rims ... generally bought in twos), 'commit' and request a new total for shipping. Nothing seems to happen for 24+ hours.
Then after I've asked nicely for the new total, the shipping total is tersely restated in a PM (just four numbers and a decimal point, without stating which currency) ... which is exactly twice the shipping of one item. WTAF?

Just received a Syncros stem, described as “Immaculate” and as having been taken off a new bike to fit a shorter one.
It’s turned up with a Ritchey faceplate held on with two bolts instead of four because it has to sit a bit squint in order to get even those two in!
I’ve actually already been refunded as it should have been here over a week ago.
Seller asked me to send the payment back if it showed up.
Why would I...how did they think...what goes through people’s...?????

I imagine the seller is riding around with a Ritchey stem and Synchros front plate.

Just found out that returning a £10 item, less than 50g, for the reson of not fitting costs £3.60 by the option forced on you by Ebay. I was a bit shocked. 36% of the costing price????
Payd £3 for postage. Seller was good. Customer gets punished!
Luckly contacted Ebay and was told that I can have that refunded after I sent item and provide proof of sending.
Quite a crap situation.

Why are you shocked at having to pay to return something?
