There's a bargain in secondhand pre-amps (MM/MC phono stage) for anybody who wants to get their soldering iron out.

I picked up a NAD 3020E for €40 a couple of years ago, there are bargains out there in secondhand integrated amplifiers too. Often with included phono stages, which may be a consideration depending on the turntable.
