  • Ha, yeah me too, I bought Gravity's Rainbow and was distressed by its doorstop quality.

    I find Gaiman quite a breezy read, though. I don't remember how long it took, but I do remember that it was finished much faster than I thought it would be, and that I wished there was more of it. Good luck!

  • I think I liked Gravity's Rainbow, but it was a long time ago and I might just be remembering my relief at finishing it.

    I bounced off the first page a couple of times until I figured out the rhythm. I certainly haven't re-read it.

    Vineland, V and Inherent Vice are all shorter and more approachable, and I have re-read those. Vineland in particular I think works as a regular novel, as well as a Pynchon-with-a-capital-P one.
