Switched to 11 speed hydro on this (at great expense). I think only the seatpost, top cap, frame and headset remain of the original bike

I can help 🙂

I like this one, it says "Kona" on it. I will buy a couple of headset cover things as soon as I can be bothered to measure my old ones though

You have have Kona written on a nice one 🙂

who even are you?!

I know. Feel like I've sold out leaving cable disks and bar ends (which is still the best value/most versatile drivetrain).
I'll stick with DT shifter if I want to use a double though so I get some freakbike points for that

no i meant you used to ride extremely ugly shit bikes, this doesent look like that
-
• #126709
I've still got 2 shitbikes. One at my girlfriend's and one for the pub. Just don't have room for any more.
For your pleasure, my no. 1 ugliest build (since rebuilt into a normal bike and sold)

Finished putting a bike together for a friend.
Purchased the bike minus wheels off Gumtree for £50 , but it hasn't been that cheap in the end, compared to the price of the bike.
Current tally:
- Bike £50
- Used wheels (£21.90+£23.40)
- New Cassette £19.99
- New Chain £6.99
- New tyres 2×£14
- New inner tubes 2×£2.49
- Replacement derailleur £10
- New cables £15
- New brake pads £10
- New bar tape £5
- New saddle £20
Total £215.26

If you're buying inner tubes, why not match the valve types?
Nice biek.

hope the fluro Marin is still going strong!
^^ Shogun looks good, needs compact bars though. :)

Try as I might the big headlight is just not going back on with the flat bars. I tried a Nitto 2520AA with the mounts, but no joy.
The old bars and light will be put to one side for if I ever stick a large hub motor in the rear wheel.
In the meantime a slightly shorter and lower stem have joined some beefier grips up front.

The guy I bought it from has a "deal" with the Lewisham Recycling Centre ♻️ where he gets the bikes, fixes them then resells them
Is this the guy who has the really long garbled nonsensical gumtree descriptions who asks to meet outside Lewisham police station? If so I've seen his ads and just assumed they're all nicked. Feel bad now

So I picked up this Saracen Kili Pro a while back but it’s got plenty of issues. Seat post was stuck, now out. Fork is solid, front wheel bearings are knackered but there’s a few dents. The main one is on the drive side chainstay and it’s deep enough to make me wonder if it’s even worth doing it up. Any thoughts?

That Panasonic looks like so much fun! Shame about the headlight but it still looks great without.
(I never thought I'd condone a massive, almost totally superfluous fucking headlight on a bike but for some reason it just works). -

I like those Saracen frames with the top tube extended into the seat tube. More succinct name for that? I bought a tufftrax on eBay the other day in a nice purple colour, true temper. But the guy had it stolen from his lock up before he posted it. I think they’re well proportioned frames.
Are there no diy bodges to get the dent out?

Anyone have experience destickering Borg hubs? The rim stickers were stealth enough but not really feeling the hub sticker.

No idea if there’s any good dent removing bodges. Not entirely sure I’ve got the kit or skills to do the fixing that needs doing. I do like the frame a lot though, would have been a good spec bike in its day. Ritchey logic cranks and finishing kit, Deore DX mechs and brakes. Shame it was as badly looked after as it was.

pierced top tube?
deffinitely worth building up, even if it's just for a pub bike. i'd love to replace the frame on mine with one of the higher end kili frames in that tasty purple/pink colour
here's mine;
(has better saddle + different stem now)

That is a big dent, it must have taken quite a whack to do that! I’d have a measure up and check the back end is still square. Assuming it’s still square:
If it’s steel, I’d be inclined to just leave it and run it as a beater. If it’s Ti, leave it because it’ll be a wild expensive repair but do keep a close eye because longer term it might develop a crack.

The wheels are mismatched although visually similar.
Front takes Presta, rear takes Schrader and I didn't had the Schrader to Presta insert
Yeah, I don't think the steerer will be long enough
