Leave the seat post clamp tightened up as belt and braces. No probs

Initial attempts to remove the post have made the clamp..... well, useless really. Basically I've managed to prise open the diameter of the seat tube so that the clamp no longer fits back over.
Like I said, it seems fine, but....

It’s not going to do anything other than be difficult to get out. It won’t have weakened it in anyway. If anything it will be stronger.
If it’s only just stuck you may have an easier time of getting it out though. Things like feeding it with penetrating fluid and heat don’t often work but if it’s at the point if only just recently become stuck, you will likely get it out much easier.

To put your mind at ease you could clamp something around the post just above seat tube, so that if the post does free itself during a ride it won't suddenly slip all the way down. Obviously still not ideal, but would be a bit of a safety net, maybe something like a hose clamp/jubilee clip?

Steel frame, alu post. Obviously these are now bonded together after a winter in a leaky garage.
I don't want to actually remove the post - the fit is good and I'm happy with what is really a town/towpath beater. That said, does anyone have an horror stories to share that would put me off riding around on the jammed post? I don't THINK it's slipped at all since I've cleaned it all up, but that equates to a max of 50 miles.
Thoughts?!
