If you have to carry them any distance on a regular basis the reduced weight is a benefit. Apart from that, there's no real point except it can be an enjoyable technical challenge.

Yeah there are some sub 7 kg builds out there. Usually they won’t have a single component made by Brompton.

It is a rich person’s game if you want to go that far though.

even sub 10kg compared to 13kg is a fair chunk, without spending silly money

for me, weight is nice but the bike needs to ride well and function perfectly

I have an intermittent squeak, which seems to comes and go - for example often it’ll be quiet on the way to work and noisy on the way home, It seems to follow the cadence of my cycling and after initially presuming it was pedals/bottom bracket I’m now pretty sure it is the pivot or rear dampener.

Any tips for things to keep on top of in terms of regular maintenance and or squeak reduction?

Yup, light lube around the rear triangle pivots, then take the rubber suspension bung assembly apart and grease the bolt shaft. That usually sorts it.

Got lots of bounce? Or rear end quite stiff?

did you. ever install the sugino 75 on. your bike? if so what BB did you use?

Yeah. Defo look for something stiffer unless you need the comfort

Is BSA the same as ISO? It is, isn't it?

No. BSA is the thread. ISO is the taper. Two entirely different things.

I’ve got one of the early kinetics disc conversions, set up as single speed, with a brompfication tensioner. What are my options to go to a 2 or 3 speed?

Thanks. Hubs are Hope pro 2 EVO. Cranks are Sugino 75s with original Brompton BB and brompfication tensioner. Chain line looks ok.

Of course it is, I wasn't thinking... That ad doesn't say JIS or ISO, I thought I may have stumbled on a solution to the pre-2013 ISO BB problem...

hmmm, DR mounting will be off at an angle, maybe you could use a 135 sturmey hub, with cassette body, but just SS it and use the internal only?

That would allow the chainline adjustment, the disc and gears...
