If I'm fitting a wald front basket to a Genesis Skyline 20, should I use the mudguard mounts, mounts on the inside halfway up the forks, or the wheel axles?

Found this hill on osmaps. Looks like quite a short section of the A4. Local min elevation to the west at 88m, local max 4km east from there at 178m, so everesting Labour-in-Vain Hill would only take 99 reps and a tedious 489 miles.

Would you trust the mudguard mounts? I’d secure it to whatever you feel is the most likely to stay put.

Why are so many people / governments still insisting on making wind power work instead of focusing on solar?

Mid-fork mounts are for luggage, but read the manual for load limit. Axle is the strong point, but more of a PITA when you have to take the wheel out.

Because wind is cheaper. Both are intermittent in different ways, so storage needs to be solved either way.

Because solar is too volatile. If you'd want to go full solar you would need to be able to store huge amounts energy for at least weeks. First off, there's no sun at night, so you'd need to store the energy generated during daytime for people to not sit in the dark at night. Secondly, to have enough energy in periods of bad weather you'd either need to use the energy generated earlier or have massive capacity to still generate enough energy.
Wind still blows at night, and in autumn, so it complements solar energy. To make a proper transition we really need a diverse grid, even a combination of wind and solar is not going to cut it without a major breakthrough in energy storage.
Currently, all of the 'green' energy providers still use fossil energy and compensate for it when the weather conditions allow for it. So even though in theory all of the energy used is generated in a 'green' way, they still rely on gas and/or coal.
TL;DR what tester said

..meh, would of thought Elon Musk figured this out by now?

We figured it out decades ago, opened in 1984:

Two lakes with a 535M elevation difference. 9.1GWh of storage, max output 1.7GW, so about 5 hours at full chat.

Is there a recommended chain for an old 5-speed non-indexed gear system? I can't find a Clarks C50, which was my original choice; I was wondering about the KMC B1 narrow, but the protruding pins look like they'd make a lot of noise and fuss on the front derailleur.

can you please forward this to my government, they still seem to be strugglin', ta

There's also the option of Concentrated Solar Thermal, whereby instead of PV turning light into electricity directly, molten salt is heated by focussed light, then the salt flows through a heat exchanger to create water steam to drive a conventional turbine. If there's a leak, the salt just sets and you clean it up with a shovel.
Morocco has Ouarzazate Solar Power Station, Australia had Aurora but seem to be cocking up delivery.

Errr... I offered, had it in an envelope and was waiting for your PM. Guess I'll just return it to the parts drawer then.
Sorry, should have taken you up on it, thought I'd try and save you the inconvenience by purchasing the part from a shop.

Lol what a baby. SJS are great.
I called them today, interested in where my order was - chap said "yeah, we don't know - all I can tell you is that it was posted on Wednesday and it won't be with you this week, it'll be some time next week, no one can do any better at the moment as there's so many parcels in the system". Which is, not to put too fine a point on it, a lie.

Do we think an XS is too small for a 5'5" girl?
(flat bar hybrid)
And on balance what do we think of this Genesis Skyline 30 as a first London bike (asides from being massively overgeared) and has anyone seen an in stock otp that can beat it?

If they're using Royal Mail for delivery that sounds pretty much like the situation.

You should probably get your own carrier and and then organise collection by ordering over the phone for win on the obnoxious scale? An item with post stamp 15 was received around 25 or later by myself.

It just arrived, via Royal Mail, so fuck knows what the “we can’t see it until the courier attempts delivery” bollocks was about.

Not sure if SRS?
Posted by Forum for Democracy (Dutch: Forum voor Democratie, FvD) is a conservative, right-wing populist[27] Eurosceptic political party in the Netherlands

Environmental and social policies
In the spring of 2019, the party, endorsing a climate sceptic platform, intensively campaigned against large state investments in renewable energy, leading to a victory in the provincial elections. Later that year, it also supported protests by Dutch farmers against enforcing legislation on nitrogen emissions. -

Is this a problem? Canti stud (black) is slightly proud of the brake arm/internal pivot washer thing (gold)

I just googled the name of it and grabbed the first video from youtube. I'd watched it a few months ago on the official upload.
Hadn't realised where the link I'd posted came from. Not sure if SRS?
I found it interesting. I had already read that a lot of the information in it was old or inaccurate but they still visited the site of some praised solar projects which are now little more than collecting dust. Anyway, take it with a pinch of salt
Copyright infringement is not exactly debunking anything
Edit: I'm not a green sceptic or anything. I'm a car-less, cycling vegan (mostly). It left me a bit depressed tbh
Why are you surprised? #hippynevergivesup
Not hippyphus. :)
