Stuck seatpost couldn’t be removed. Wasn’t particularly keen on cutting it out so I chopped and slotted it and used the chopped tube of the old seatpost as a shim for the 25mm USE seatpost. The fit is satisfyingly snug and I’m happy I don’t have to put in more work.

Fantastic work!
My old boss once said to me “I like to employ clever lazy people, they’re more likely to find an easier way to get the job done”

I had to do this a 5 years ago with a Hot Tubes and a frozen ti seatpost. I was pleasantly sup-prized that the wall thickness of the Ti post was 1.1mm allowing me to run a 25mm DA seatpost. Some messenger in Boston is still running it.

Cheers everyone! The diameter of the OG post on this one (the forum’s favorite kalloy), was 30.4mm. So the wall thickness was probably around 2.7mm. It would be interesting to know if the inner diameter varies between each size or wether the wall thickness varies. Anyway, I’m very chuffed it worked out like this and I gotta say that I’m quite fond of the green/purple clash-combo.

What if the 25mm post gets stuck?
-

That’s probably the reason why seatpost sizes have increased over the years - you get more free passes ;)
P.s. there’s also the 22mm super record seatpost of the colnago oval cx, I’m sure there are plenty available for reasonable prices :) -

When I was working in Belgrade our toolmaker had a similar hierarchy.
Dim and lazy - don’t worry about these people, they’re not a problem.
Dim and hardworking - avoid them, they ruin everything
Smart and hardworking- get them to work for you
Smart and lazy - these people rule the world -

Riding down some trail today and the bike suddenly shifted gear and made a rubbing sound on the tyre...turned out the screw holding the cable guide under the BB had come out and the guide now flailing off near the cranks with the gear cable rubbing the wheel.
Managed a fix by shoving a twig into the hole. Kept everything secure the whole 20ish off road miles home.
