• Oh, purely the styling. Especially the size. A lot of the other 5s are quite large and/or a bit lacking style-wise. Though the finishing on these does seem to be pretty decent as 5s go.

    These ought to be found cheaper, still not really sure where the SKX-esque 5 Sports have come down to in terms of price here. They sell for peanuts in the States.

  • @howard I thought the difference between these and the ones lower down the chain was that these had the hackable/hand wind 4R36 movement? seems like its a step up from the 7S26 in the SKX series.

  • True for many of them (and it’s the main “upgrade” over the SKX007) but you can (could?) get 4R-based Seiko 5s, especially the Sports models, for little more than a ton. Eg this one of mine (Sumo has the black version). Think I paid about £150 but later on they were popping up for £120-ish. Decent bracelet and a display caseback on them too.
