they're more expensive, and probably the little touches like ventilation aren't as good.
the phreeranger, for example, is just a worse, more expensive copy of a bowfin.
The independent U.K. maker is the big sell for me, would rather not buy something shipped halfway round the world if possible otherwise have always fancied a scarp.
I think marc at trekkertent has been making shelters for about the same amount of time as tarptent but could be wrong
