Does it have a hole on the back of the crown, I saw an adaptor a while ago that passes under the bridge that will allow a light out front. This might limit the clearance, also it might have been custom
So annoying how many of these gravel forks aren't fully drilled

I'd also check that it didn't have the full brake hole but filled over for tarck or something. I think I'd rather drill through the crown than add a big light mount like that. But I don't have a welder so there's that...

Congrats on the Arkose man, out of curiosity how tall are you?

I'd imagine the pelago rack would work, it comes with various adapters for attaching to the fork! There is a long offset braket which I think would attach to the arkose fork eyelets.

Thanks dude, I'm 6ft, short legs/long torso.

There’s a threaded hole at the back for fenders. I did have a makeshift mount going under the crown to the back but the light output suffered too much from vibration.
This will only be like 200g and it’s by no means a light bike -

what about a crown race mount?little plate under the crown race for the light
-
• #11309
I’ve looked for one of these but I think it would need to be custom.
Wouldn’t work for me on this anyway as the fork has an integrated crown race. I shouldn’t actually be using the Chris King as I think the race is the wrong angle but it’s been ok so far for 6 months or so -

I have often thought about using a cable stop for canti-mount brakes as a fixing point for a front light. Anyone done this or have a neat way to do it?

I have wtb riddler tyres of 700c 37c size with that sweet sweet tan wall on my Arkose.
they are starting to wear enough fo me to need replacements now. but I am struggling to find like for like replacements. the nearest I can find is wtb raddlers at 700c 37c size but no tan wall.
the only wtb riddlers with tanwall go from 40 or 42c. Is there any obvious disadvantage or problem with going with the larger size?
I really like the tan wall look does it show?
are there other brands that are better?

One of Germany biggest bike manufacturers. They're fine. I've got a Rose FS MTB.

Perfect, thanks. will order then. Still have tread left on the current and given they are a steal at £37 I reckon 5 weeks delivery really isnt that long. And given the pain of finding some I reckon im going to get a couple to hold for next time. Front tyre is barely worn. so should be ok to just get two for the back.

• #11315
You could also swap the front tyre to the back?

Jesus Christ. Why didn't I think of that?
I'm constantly amazed day to day how I can at times be the cleverest person in a room and also the most stupid.

Folding or wired?

Wired!

• #11322
I saw that on the listings often. What's folding or wired and is one better than the other?
-
• #11323
Thanks for the offer though. Maybe next time I'll get adventurous and try a 42c

Folding tyres have a Kevlar (or similar) bead rather than a steel wire. This is lighter. It also tends to be associated with the more expensive 'premium' versions of tyres.

Thanks!
Those ones I bought were folding so that's good.
Definitely, that's next and then drill it for bolting the light to.
I don't know if this is a terrible idea as it'll probably get soaked even with fenders on but its about my only option with this fork.
