-

Bit rude. Don't know if you know but listing them on FB marketplace is in against forum rules
-
• #6
Me or @Michael5659 ???

You Allistair, first it was NJS, now its Japanese track (which by the way not fit for any track let alone japan) not to mention your cheapo rims that have visible joins and laced the wrong way round. Also your trying to sell elsewhere and to top it all off asking for a ridiculous price.
I would say that is pretty rude -

First off mate my name is above so spell my name right and as stated in the previous ad my confusion was due down to the fact that the wheels were taken off an njs spec bike so I apologise for that, second if You had any manners yourself you wouldn’t just start insulting people and low balling a price, also judging by the fact in previous ads you have made mistakes, in the future it would be better for you to probably give constructive Criticism and input to people like me who I admit do not have a much knowledge as you seem to think you have, that way people can learn and understand and I apologise for the Facebook marketplace ad as I have taken it down, but was having issues taking it down. So in fact I would say you are the person being rude not me as I understand my wrong doing unlike you @Michael5659. Thanks
Advert to do with wheels hence confusion https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/342805/#comment15086934

Really? Someone had those wheels on a njs bike?
-

Just out of sheer curiosity as I'm more of a vintage roadie but why are the Rims the wrong way round and what's wrong with the lacing?
-
• #11
I wonder if the person who built them even knows how to tie his shoes, £1.75 offer stilk stands.

I too, have this question.
-
• #14
Front is deeper than the rear
-
• #15
I think he's complaining about something else given that he's highlighted the lacing. Front is radial, rear is 3-cross, which is perfectly normal. Perhaps it's that the trailing spokes are on the outside of the hub flange, which would be incorrect on a geared hub but as Sheldon says "In the case of fixed-gear or coaster-brake wheels, it is better to lace the opposite way [i.e., with trailing spokes on the outside of the flange], because a derailed chain is more likely to get jammed by backpedaling in these cases." and "Note: This is not an important issue! There is a sizable minority of good wheelbuilders who prefer to go the other way around, and good wheels can be built either way."
In any case it's a good idea to have a quick skim of @Michael5659's post history before taking anything he says too seriously.

This.

or perhaps because the DS has inbound spokes leading, but NDS inbound are trailing. Not exactly a life threatening error, just a bit wrong.

I'd agree with that.
I think Michael's posts are very much of the "many truths said in jest" variety. The OP is trying it on. -
• #19
Oh no, my dirty history. Well part of my history is a wheel builder, and we still have no explanation as to why the rim with brake surface is laced to the rear hub. So could your LARGE minority of wheel builders explain that one aswell?
-
• #20
Its clearly built for
NJSJapanese Track use so it will never see a brake anyway ...rolls eyes
-
• #21
Maybe someone just got through building the back, then thought, oh cock, there's no braking surface on the other rim

Well I wouldn't buy them but, TBF, the previous ad listed the wheelset for £200 and showed a bike using a front brake on them.

I think they are the same person tbh :-S

While I’m very much enjoying this thread, I think @AlastairJones59 is being given an unfairly hard time.
Paraphrasing, it seems he bought a bike, wants to sell the wheels. He doesn’t have the history because he didn’t build them, commission them, or even want them, they just came on the bike he bought.
Nothing wrong with politely pointing out a listing error, and the rules of the classifieds, but there’s no need for the aggression @Michael5659 and @Josh01.

I do apologise if i came across aggressively. And GLWS. But come on, lets not try and rip people off here especially as this is mainly a community of knowledgeable bicycle enthusiasts.
