  • :( Its broken after 10 days

    What??!?

    Seriously?! balls

  • After couple days of negotiations with Watchfinder, Grand Seiko SBGX261 is coming my way. Can’t wait.
I decided that Tudor BB36 can wait :-)

  • Quite like this Le Forban;

  • Sorry to interrupt the Grail Watches.
    😝
I haven’t been on the forum in ages but...
I need to get my early 60s Omega (Seamaster deville) serviced - it may need repair too.

I had it serviced before by C.Heal Watches but I’ve read some dodgy stuff about him.

What would be the recommendation for reliable good value watch servicing from you more knowledgeable people?

    Alsal?

Postal is fine - probably better atm.

  • Much more exciting than a BB36. Grats!

  • Thank you!

Congrats! Roughly how successful were your negotiations?

  • Successful enough to pull the trigger :-)

  • Very cool watch

  • So I need to change some straps.

Spring bar tools. They look like a great way of fucking up your strap and your watch case. Why are they made of steel? I would have thought a reinforced plastic of some kind would be kinder.

Then I find a video of someone using dental floss to do it
    - putting two loops of floss around the bar then pulling it back in to the centre of the strap.

Anyone tried this? Pretty neat I thought, although I guess it's not going to work on a bracelet.

Are there other creative and non-destructive methods for strap removal? - other than qr straps I guess.

  • I use a toothpick, for realz

  • First time

  • ...(TK Hamilton review)...date window between 4 and 5. Oddly placed and oddly sized, the window is less an aperture and more a wound.

I do like an impartial review, it does look like an after thought.

The video with the dental floss was a bit uncontrolled, I’m sure you weren’t quite so violent but with the proper tool (the Bergeon 6111 is the nuts) and some practice it’s not too bad. That said I still get the fear putting the bracelet back on my Speedy because the folded end links are such a crap fit.

  • Nice one, @frankohara! Don't know what I'm going to do with it, I'm just enjoying looking at it atm... Such a sweet little thing...

I think I may give it to my sis-in-law, was gonna give her boyf one of my other watches, only seems fair that they both get one... It'll suit her... My OH just got an Apple watch... 😂

  • I was going to be sarky and say "buy a Seiko and enjoy the drilled lugz" but I now see the watch in question is a Seiko that does not have drilled lugs…

  • I will have to have a look at when they are open. There is also a tiny tiny watch shop by me run by an elderly man who used to be an Omega tech so I can also stay local and try him.

  • thanks @mattyc who found it originally, I just added a strap to the deal :) It is a beautiful watch! Enjoy it!

  • I saw somebody mention expensive coffee scales up thread... On this, of all threads, I found particularly hilarious...

A score for a watch, a hundred and sixty quid for some scales... 🤷‍♂️

Glad it got the reaction I was aiming for.

  • What was that then?

  • FWIW I thought it was an interesting watch and something I would wear - if it was a 40mm as advertised by TK but the reality is it is a chonker for those with more hench than me.

  • I really like this, good size and good price, shame I already own 3 diving watching with black faces.

  • And it’s here.
Quality all over and exactly as expected. Well, not really as the seconds hand doesn’t hit the indices perfectly... it’s behind from around half past until 5 past. Then, it’s a little after for 10 or so seconds. It’s only perfect from 20 past till half past and then behind again. I’ve researched it a bit and apparently it’s normal but the 9F should be bang on. Then they also say it’s normal for quartz not to be perfect. But I thought it was perfect damn it. Am I too fussy? It is a £2k quartz after all... not sure if I can live with it. Will have to sleep on it.
    Thoughts please.
