  • Brisbane to Sydney isn’t exactly crocodile Dundee outback.

    How common are roo strikes?

And as said above those nudge bars won’t stop your car being written off if you were to hit one.

  • yeah but they look cool.

  • Hmm, I'm gonna have to rethink this, aren't I? It does concern me tho', maybe I'll just go with the riot shield... And sport mesh grille...

Hitting an animal becomes a real issue for those in the vehicle doing the hitting when said animal comes in through the windscreen - you don't want 85kg of 'Roo joining you at 100kph, covered in broken glass. So if you want to guard against that sort of thing then you need to go full Mad-Max.

  • I don’t know how common Roos are in general but we took the long way round from Gippsland to Canberra, due to the fires(about 13hr drive) in Jan and roadside roo corpses were at least as common as bottles of piss/dead foxes on the North Circular...
Judging by the size of the fuckers we saw anything less than a full riot shield would be pointless.

Joe- I’m kinda disappointed that you’ve been there that long and not already built a Ute to full Tank-Girl street goth spec already.

  • yeah but they look cool.

    Is the correct answer.

    Collect your prize!

  • Smashed into a roo out in rural NSW, crushed the front bumper, grille, air-con (rad was ok thank god) and the fucker hopped off into the night. A pair of sketchy dudes in a pickup turned up with a shotgun and went into the bushes to finish him off but he'd scarpered.

  • Old Saab’s used to have elk proof windscreens.
    Riot shield is very ‘2020’

  • Ovlov Shirley?

    Elk proof, or Elk resistant?

  • Damn, did they test the 9000CSE (always referred to as "too dumb for 'O' levels")? I barrel rolled one that belonged to ex-Mrs Bald through a hedge avoiding a dozen nocturnal fallow deer. Should I just have ploughed into the antlery fuckers?

  • Are you Roy Lanchester?

  • Ha that's epic! I love bench seats.

  • Having hit a deer, with antlers, I'm glad that I was quite in excess of the speed limit. The Jag that wasn't mine and I was just getting miles on, not so.

  • just to divert you from the animal problem with a light quiz. Walking the other day this was a new one on me. I checked it and now know. What say you?

Gimme a chance, I've only been driving for 18mths!?! 🙃

  • You think? I think they look shit...

  • @>>>>>> Brisbane to Sydney you're more likely to hit a wombat. That'll still be a fairly big hit though, they're like 50 kg boulders sometimes.

Down around Canberra there's way more roos, so snow trips at night can be sketchy.

If you want nudge bars, you may as well get some ridiculous mud tyres and a lift kit too

  • Studebaker Avanti?

So I can be another one of those twats whose tyres you can hear from half a mile away?!? 🤭🔫

Confession: The other day I watched some guy on YouTube lift an XV, must admit it did look fun... Not this one but something similar... Bro, do u even?

  • Would be fun but can't imagine actually putting money into it. An old 80's Subaru Leone wagon maybe...

  • top marks dude. to me it didn’t look big enough to be a yank mobile but I kinda knew it had to be. checked on dvla and it is taxed so I assumed rolling. Guy had some other interesting motors in his yard

  • I’ve got a Mazda b2500 from 04. Love it.

  • Such an odd car. Quite stylish from the rear. So ugly from the front.

  • I might put a grille on but that's it... Saw a beautiful pimped out Turbo Forester pulling into its drive this evening, sparkly red with gorgeous gold alloys, had definitely been lowered... Stunning car, kinda like this...
