I'm struggling to see why Rees-Mogg is fighting so hard over this one.
A lot of comment on Twitter that it's to shield Johnson from Starmer at PMQ's, how effective that will be is a question I'd ask - I guess a Wall Of Noise will give Johnson some time to think, but he's so out of his depth that I don't think what he can gather in those few seconds is going to enable him to out-fox Starmer.
I'm struggling to see why Rees-Mogg is fighting so hard over this one. I appreciate that he may well think a bit of parliamentary pantomime is more important than actually having a functioning representative democracy, but it seems an odd choice to be making a stand on. Unless they think the older members of the party are less likely to toe the party line when compared to more junior members who still have aspirations of climbing the oh-so-greasy Tory pole.
