• Smashed into a roo out in rural NSW, crushed the front bumper, grille, air-con (rad was ok thank god) and the fucker hopped off into the night. A pair of sketchy dudes in a pickup turned up with a shotgun and went into the bushes to finish him off but he'd scarpered.

  • My father in law (being the stereotypical proper aucha bloke he is) used to drive road trains. He reckoned that when driving at night in the bush he'd have at least one 'roo strike a week. Most of them he didn't notice but if he hit a really big one the whole cab would shudder and the rig would lose speed momentarily. They're like rabbits at night and get attracted to then caught in the headlights. Most locals in the northern territories (where he's from) avoid driving at night like the plague because the risk is too high and worst case scenario you hit one, go off the road then lie injured in your car / ute / small truck for days and when found your corpse resembles a raisin.
