  • Does it just keep turning over without kicking in? I used to have that with my ST. It was hot starter motor for me. The old starter couldn't turn over properly. Changed for a new one and it never failed to start.

  • Yep. Engine cranks, clutch in, neutral then hit the start and it cuts out like the battery is dead. Clocks cut out then nada. Somewhere something isn't getting the voltage.

Changed battery, and its on trickle charge. I've used my voltmeter and its sitting nicely above 12V off charge and when cranking.

  • Try what @lynx said. If you short the starter solenoid and it does the same thing, might be the starter.
Not on my ST, but I had the same thing on the SV, turns out the brushes were worn down, so despite full voltage on battery, power wasn't spinning up the starter.

  • Had this happen on my BMW. Just needed the high amp cable to be unbolted and then tightened. I did remove it and clean it properly afterwards but those connections do need to be conducting well.

  • Check the side stand cut out switch isn’t stuck.
