  • The question was more, will they paint a fork to colour match a naked Ti frame.

Paint forks a silver grey to match a naked Ti frame?

But Ti is imperfect, typically brushed, and the perceived colour isn't just the material colour but how the light catches the micro-imperfections, the brushed Ti, the super fine scratches. The light changes based on the imperfections and angle of reflection and diffraction.

A paint, will form a perfectly smooth layer. Even if you matched an average colour of the Ti, its perfection will cause it to appear flat in colour relative to the naked Ti.

I don't think this will look good.

I think if you want to keep the frame naked then that will look excellent, and if you want to paint the forks then great... but choose any colour that isn't close to the silver grey of the Ti.

What might look incredible is just going all out on the paint on the forks whilst leaving the frame naked... something like this but with the Ti frame on show:

You wouldn't have to have Seven do that, and so you'd have no paint cost from Seven themselves.

  • I'm not a fan of the painted forks on Moots, however I agree they achieve a better match. I think it's because Moots do not come with a brushed finish but are a duller blasted finish, which is easier to match too.

Personally I don't think you can go wrong with a nice black fork and then possibly some bling Chris King parts to elevate it...The new Bourbon parts look great on the various Ti builds I've seen them used on.

  • Moots have managed alright, no?

I've never seen a Moots that tried to paint carbon forks to match a Ti frame as if the forks were the same material as the frame... the forks are usually left alone as carbon black or whatever their material is.
