I went though a couple of cheaper racks before getting the Pelago and it's head and shoulders above them. I use it on my daily commuter so it's always carrying a rack bag and gear, if it's only going to be used occasionally then you can just get a cheaper one but if it's going to be used a lot it'll probably just fall apart in a year.
