When Uniqlo first launched in Europe they they were the Japanese budget Gap and did green seamed selvedge denim up to something crazy like 44x29 and everything was super boxy fitting and cheap. The switch to ‘fashion’ came pretty late on.
Shame about uniqlo, their selvedge used to be a nice cheap stop gap jean, but now everything’s got stretch to it... funnily enough, a 45 year old man doesn’t want stretchy denim
Their standard straight denim is 14.5 Oz Japanese stuff. I have 3 pairs. They're incredibly hard wearing for "not that expensive really" denim. And for the cost they're worth a go on just to see if you get on with them.
Edit. The Uniqlo website is so shit I can't find them.
