Rapha, nice but a bit pricey?

  • Agreed. Think I’ll order one.

  • So today a mate warned me that my crack is nearly visible through core cargo bibs. I purchased them a year ago. Would expect more from Rapha but I guess it's because of core range? Anybody know if the €230 cargo bibs do last better?

  • Are they a bit too small?

  • A true friend.

  • Your butt crack was showing through your core bibs the other day too!

  • It is endemic with them, and definitely the least charming side effect of wearing rapha bibs

  • Yep core range is the lowest quality i've ever seen on bibs. Even Lidl ones last longer than the core range. Same has happened to me on my two different set of core bibs. I guess they are using some leftover/ b quality on them. Anyways, normal cargo bibs are totally different fabric, so highly recommended. Expensive but robust.

  • Well I gained a few kilos during the quarantine but definitely not so much to size up. It's actually not the crack area but wear on the right cheek side if we're specific. Started taking butt selfies like crazy, doesn't look too bad for myself but some wear is apparent. Also the stitches inside legs are totally worn out where there was a contact with the saddle nose.

  • That's my impression as well that core is way lower quality than the more expensive stuff from rapha. My old brevet bibs still look decent after 3 years or so while core needs to be thrown out after 1 year. It's also made in china versus made in europe but mostly it's about materials used i believe.

  • Yeah I thought the core bibs were good value and was going to buy some but have since read loads of people saying they go see-through after a year or less.

My classic bibs are 5 years old and still going strong.

Never found pro team bibs very comfortable either, think the pad is too big - remember reading they use (or used to) the same size pad from small to xl. They've also shrunk in the wash, where my classics havn't.

  • Just to counter balance, I've had some pairs of core bibs for a couple of years and they've been great. If they do start wearing out quickly I assume that Rapha would replace them?

Also, I believe the latest generation of pro team shorts now have different pad sizes for each size of short.

  • Anyone own the slides? Any good?

  • Yeah they're good. Comfy and surprisingly well priced. Downsides are there's a bit more room than I would like under the strap and the strap holds water a bit.

  • Where are his socks?

  • Triathlete. Just look at those shoes.

  • Grim! I shall have a trusted friend check all of mine for me 😉

  • I zoomed in. But only because I thought I saw a face in the back of their Oakley helmet.

See through bibs? Either sit at the back or HTFU enough that no one can get close.

That or tattoo a joke on your arse cheek.

  • Another +1 for the classic bibs. Only deterioration on mine is the graphic cracking and peeling, 5 years later. Still my most comfortable set of shorts.

I did have some Core bibs a couple of years ago, but had only owned them for a few months before they were cut in to pieces by surgeons after a roadside crash

  • It's the construction of the Core bibs rather than the materials. The bib section is mostly redundant as the same short without straps is the Core Shorts. This means the bib section which looks like an afterthought does little, so the fabric has to do the compression and stretch and hold the pad in place. It's overworked and overstretched.

  • Isn’t that just a simple case of trying to pour a quart into a pint pot?

  • A quart!?! You absolute heathen Andy.
We use the Metric System in this country. Imperial is for idiot Americans and them weirdo tester types.

  • Does anyone sell Rapha outside of the .com now?

Looking for a pair of core shorts in L for a fathers day present. Can't find them anywhere.
