  • and acting instinctively...

  • And my test results say "you have not had C19", which means I was just very ill in February from something else, or this is a false negative.

  • Could the issue of the test being designed for venous blood, and the test being conducted with finger-stick blood be an issue here?

  • In the interest of transferring money from your wallet to the pharmaceutical industry you should have another test done somewhere they draw the blood like https://www.coronatestcentre.com

    I don't think I would bother.

  • No, I’m not going to go all the way there and pay £175.

  • Hmm:

    Negative

Clinical Comment SARS-CoV-2 IgG Negative. No serological
evidence of past SARS-CoV -2 infection.
    Methodology: ABBOTT CMIA
Please note: This test is CE marked for
venesection samples only. Initial samples obtained
by self-collection have been verified by the
laboratory as performing within the same
performance criteria as those taken by venesection
and studies are on-going. This test has been
    submitted to UKAS for accreditation

  • I think you're grasping at straws here.

There was a very nasty virus going round in February/March that wasn't Covid-19, I think that's what you had, especially as coronavirus didn't really start spreading in the community until the start of March. I expect you may have had the same non-Covid thing that I had.

  • Well, based in the test that looks likely.

I would offer for context that I was in the Alps, near the European epicentre for two weeks at the start of the year in a hotel with a lot of guests from Far East Asia, and started coming down with whatever it was toward the end of the final week, hence paying or a test.

  • Is the following just a product of my media bubble?

Stories I see about Covid Lockdown right now consist of:

    1) prominent scientific advisors saying it is a terrible idea to ease lockdown.

    2) insider whistle blowers claiming that the track and trace program doesn't actually exist and people are getting paid for doing absolutely norhing.

    3) Govt claiming that all is well and that we should all be having garden parties

    4) schools reopening next week.

    What the fuck?

  • We can't lag Europe in re-opening, it's a matter of pride for the government, and also I suspect if they didn't re-open they'd be admitting quite how badly they've handled the UK situation, highest death toll in Europe etc etc. So we're ignoring reality.

  • I suspect if they didn't re-open they'd be admitting quite how badly they've handled the UK situation.

Also a good distraction when people are now focus on finally being out and about instead of questioning the government.

  • From what i have seen on the coast this week i think families have jibbed the whole thing off and just gone back to herding . If more children where to die between now and September the parents might realise the serious repercussions of cramming them into a candi floss shop.

  • insider whistle blowers claiming that the track and trace program doesn't actually exist and people are getting paid for doing absolutely norhing.

    Just been reading that, bonkers.

    Good summary.

  • Massive second peak and then a stricter lockdown?

  • This might be of interest:

You can see estimated R in your local authority area

  • That link does not work.

  • Does for me, they say it doesn't work in safari and needs refreshing if having problems due to struggling with traffic

Do you have a source for this? I'm genuinely interested as I also suffered badly from a virus in mid February.

  • I don't think there's anything more than just lots of anecdotal evidence from people who had similar things around then, were convinced they'd had Covid-19, but have all tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.

The above links don't seem to present anything out of the ordinary for non-Covid-19 viral illnesses in January/February. I've only managed a quick look though.

  • 2) insider whistle blowers claiming that the track and trace program doesn't actually exist and people are getting paid for doing absolutely nothing.

Ah - the scheme run by the tory peer wife of a tory mp, who has been proven to be useless, particularly when involved in technology. I'm sure it'll be fine.

  • Rode through Clapham Common this morning and someone was doing cricket training with a load of kids throwing balls to each other in turn. Must have been one of those super sterile balls I’ve heard so much about.

  • Someone on here had the nasty virus, thought that might be it, and then a couple months later had actual covid-19 (as confirmed by test), which I found pretty persuasive.

  • Anecdotally, last winter seemed to be a nasty one for coughs and colds of the low-grade and miserable variety. I and various friends and acquaintances had fairly long-lasting chesty coughs, though nothing that warranted going to a doctor's.
