  • strange mine cleared 28c on HED rim

  • Yeah this one can fit the biggest combo I have at the moment which is 27mm open Pave on HED Belgium...
@fredtc I’ve fettled PDW guards on the Lynskey before so know I’ll only be able to run 25mm on wide rims under them, which is fine... got any pictures of yours?
I’m waiting on some bits to build up new wheels specifically for this - DT Swiss 21mm Oxic on Bitex

  • I think it's a shame that they're pumping out with black forks instead, now-

I agree, but your Talbot has black forks!? And don't tell me it's different.

  • It's different. Unless anodized, Ti bikes are inherently less unique than bikes that might have a fancy paint job. The silver fork really added something to the Moots, but now it's just another Ti bike with a black fork.

  • I hear you, for a short time I was going to pass on the moots fork and am now very glad I didn’t...
I was planning on painting any future black fork to match - RAL 9007 a la -

  • Do the logos come off your Moots fork? Personally I think it'd be smarter without them.

  • I agree but they’re under the clear coat so will leave them on for now, want to ride it for a bit before I consider any more permanent modification... 👍🏻

Edit: I think I’d rather paint another fork than mess with these...

  • 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks again for letting me take this off you, glad I miss sold you a freehub! 😬

In related news turns out the cassette I had got off here was a 10 speed with an 11th cog and 10 speed spacers 🤦‍♂️

  • Subbed

  • I know... Still, black forks are the new chrome, it saves money and reduces inventory but it just cheapens the overall look. Of course in Moots' case they're all the same colour anyway so it shouldn't matter.

  • Picked up some bell wire, solder, soldering iron and heat shrink from father-in-law this afternoon... just plotting my cable route...

  • This kind of fuckery is what I love about this place. Looking forward to more.

  • Tarted up the Linskey, a wee dab of lime gold paint and. . . hey presto.

  • That paint looks great. Would look even better with plainer cages and bartape so as not to distract from the paintjob imo.

  • I did have plain silver alloy cages on but they looked . . . . plain. I seen these gecko cages from Taiwan and really liked them, so. . .. . had to be done. The bar tape, well, it's just making a statement.

  • Is the frame custom for you? Custom brake bridge too? Not seen a seat cluster like that on ti before, like the seatpost bolt but not a fan of the extension of the lug caps - would have been nice to see it wrap around a la gazelle or rourke...

Got to say I’m not vibing off the Lynskey typeface or the decal on the top tube... did you have it painted? Reckon it would look good to colour match the stem and forks if you know the RAL code... then ditch the bar end shifters, odd coloured cable outers, green cages, black spokes on silver hubs and rims, green spacer and top cap, mini pump, green skewer then sand the logos off the seatpost but that’s just me, I’m sure it rides much better than it looks... hope you’re healing up well! 👍🏻

Edit: I’ve got some xenon 10 speed shifters if you’d want them?

  • Tyres, you failed to mention the tyres. I'm riding 20mm, you must like them :-) The frame is just a standard 35th anniversary lynskey. I was going to have a frame built up to my spec but in the end my pockets were not deep enough. The paint work. . . . well, I would like to say I was impressed by the workmanship but, I would be lieing. I normally have my frames powder coated but I fancied a wet paint on this one, had it done by roadrash just outside Dunstable, truly awful, no, really really awful. Anyway, I'm glad you like it, did I hear you say you wanted to give me a set of shifters, good man yourself, I'll relieve you of them then. :-+

  • I like the tyres 👌
Sure, if I don’t end up using the shifters, and I probably won’t as I don’t have a rear mech or cassette at the moment, I’ll send them your way for a forum donation 👍🏻👍🏻

  • Sure I could put a few quid in the pot. Have you still got a bike/ frame for the parts ? If you're sure you want to part with the levers I will PM you my address. You're a gentleman and a scholar sir.

  • I do but once I’ve finished this Moots I hope to purge pretty much everything else I’ve got so will let you know when the time comes 👍🏻

  • Happy days, Ta. ;-)

  • Including the Roberts?

  • Been a few high end mega bike clearances on here lately, thankfully yours are a touch small as well as a touch high end for my inside leg/wallet.

  • Most likely yes if I love the Moots...

@CptnBigNose ha, these will be bargains though so might tempt you...

@t-v found another one of the painted moots
